Vince Young broke

The dude spent $5,000 per week at Cheesecake Factory his rookie season...even spent $6,000 in one sitting at TGI Fridays.

He even tried to buy every single ticket on a commercial flight once so he would be the only one on the plane...thought it would be cool.

Are these things investments?

In all seriousness, and this is not sarcasm or mocking.

How in the wide world of sports do you spend $6,000 at a TGI Fridays? They don't exactly serve chateaubriand.

Hell, go be a lay coach at a highschool somewhere. Settle down and just enjoy your national championship and the fact that you were a starting quarterback in the national football league. That's as far as any of us have ever gone, well other than Mover.

Mover was a terrible quarterback.

Lot's of double barrel wiskey sirloins and a few kegs worth of brutus drafts....then because your waitress has a hot ass, you tip her $5,915.....?

Bills head coach Chan Gailey is a creative offensive mind who could have used a player with Young's mobility...

Apparently this guy didn't see the 2006 ACC CG.

Also, something like 60% of NFL players end up broke, or so I heard.

Easy. Pay the tab for 20 people and it only needs to be $250 a person, which isn't too hard to do when you go top shelf and stay for most of the night. I'm sure that's what he did.

Honestly $5k at the Cheesecake Factory a week sounds funny but it's really not too bad. Assuming he did it literally every week that's only $256k a year (not that it's exactly smart.)

That's not the cause of his financial ruin. The "financial advisor" probably really did steal his money because these guys always go with their buddies' cousins' friends instead of a reputable place.

Vince Young sounds like he could work for the current administration. $16 Trillion in debt and climbing.

Go Jackets!

remember that our own former player Keith Brooking was also having serious money problems even though he played in the league much longer, and was the subject of a criminal investigation into his alleged gifting to others of his assets so they would not become forfeit

Did he graduate? I think he was before the current minums that require actual advancement for a degree, a great disservice to athletes, the vast majority of which will never see a down in the pros.

Wish I could spend $256k a year and have that not be the cause of my financial ruin.

You have to wonder though, the guy who can eat at a TGI Fridays for $250 a top, what else does he grossly overspend on? I think the answer to his financial ruin is likely somewhere in the middle.

True. I guess I should say his financial ruin at this time is likely due to his financial adviser stealing. There's no doubt that even if he was on the up-and-up VY would have been one of those "Broke after only X years out of the NFL" guys.

EDIT: $26 million guaranteed (probably got some incentives too) just from his NFL contract alone in the past five years. I'm sure he made a lot more from endorsements as well.

Peoples claims in the countersuit that every decision he made was approved by Keith Young. And he calls Vince Young's unwillingness to accept responsibility ''a common occurrence ... as (former Titans coach) Jeff Fisher, (Texas coach) Mack Brown, numerous NFL executives, coaches, teammates, scouts, girlfriends and illegitimate children will attest.''

lol

Major burn.

The airplane thing is just retarded. You can rent a huge private jet (G550 or even a Boeing Business Jet) for like $50k. He spent over $100k on a Southwest flight. Retart.

Private jets don't have as many seats. Wouldn't have been as cool.
