Geographical references should be removed from conference names if Texas joins either one of the coastal conferences. I propose new names for the four super conferences:

1. ACC = Big Brain Conference
2. SEC = Big Dummy Conference
3. B1G = Big Slow Conference
3. PAC? = Big Late-Night Conference
That's how I see thing shaking out in five years. Four 16-team conferences. An eight-team playoff, four conference champs, four wild card teams (two other conference champs, maybe, provided they are ranked high enough, and two highest-ranked teams, and as many as four if the other smaller conference champs don't have enough rankings, that were not conference champs). That might push Notre Dame to be a full-fledged member of the ACC and that leaves Texas in a bidding war between the SEC and Pac 12, which is where I see Oklahoma and Oklahoma State going.

Really none of 3GT's predictions have been that outlandish.

There was talk of a B12 ACC esque merger

Texas probably does want to hire Saban and can.

GT will score over 30 ppg and can go 12-0.

the atrocious ness of Groh was very surprising last season. There was no real reason for us to lose to VPI and they certainly do seem to be on their way down.

Not sure why everyone thinks he's so dumb. If the odyssey were written in crayon would it not be an epic poem?

That's pretty much what I've said for a couple of years now. With the new contracts, it might take more than 5 years, but eventually it will happen. When Colorado, Nebraska, A&M, and Missouri bolted, it signals real problems within the Big XII.

Really none of 3GT's predictions have been that outlandish if you like trollbait

There was talk of a B12 ACC esque merger by bloggers and uninformed internet posters

Texas probably does want to hire Saban and cannot

GT will score over 30ppg but not likely 30 points every game and cannot go 12-0 because then they would be playing more games so there is no way they could end up being 12-0 at season's end

blah blah blah

Not sure why everyone thinks he's so dumb. If the odyssey were written in crayon would it not be an epic poem? yes, but the quality of writing is much higher and the logical explanations are less fantastic than 3GTs gibberish

Missouri was was smart enough to bolt before they became more irrelevant than they already are. Landing in the SEC was a gift. Oklahoma was dumb not to get out while the getting was good.

Saban is an old man. Texas needs a young man.

What does the man do that already has three national championships at two different school? At this point you're working on a legacy that goes something like 'Greatest CFB Coach in History." What more could you possibly do? Do it again somewhere else.

There's two ways I could see this going. For as big as Bama is, I really don't think they can hold a candle to Texas. They have their own TV channel. He would have hegemonic dominance over one of the most populous states in the country. The Big 12 would have him in the national championship in just a few years.

The other, harder, way would be to go the video game route. Test how good you really are, and go to a school that isn't a national powerhouse already. Prove that you can recruit the studs at a non name brand school. Go to VT, GT, UCLA, Northwestern something like that. I know some of those might be kind of name brand schools, but none of them are ever in the national championship conversation. I don't expect him to take this route. I think he's too old at this point. But as much as I don't like the guy, I think I could actually see myself rooting him on if he did it.

I wouldn't be worried unless CPJ has family in Texas

Apparently Texas doesn't owe Brown the whole contract, but under 3 million. (Less than a million per year over 4 years.)

They can definitely offer Saban 10 million, but Alabama should match that. Alabama tried so many different coaches until Saban came, they would rather pay a lot more than try the coach market again. Now I am curious if we would see a huge bidding war for Saban. Saban would like a bidding war since he would end up with a raise. Sounds like this is happening!

Saban's wife likes Tuscaloosa, and that seems to be the end of the matter. Saban eats the same salad every day for lunch, why would he make a lateral move for more money? The issue at Miami was lack of control due to GM and owner, not money.

It's interesting how offbase though most coaching speculation ends up being. I wouldn't be surprised at all with a Jimbo Fisher hire, even though he hasn't won at FSU. AD's and Presidents can be funny creatures with what coaches they're impressed with. NFL experience, for example, gets far more credit than its worth.

You young guys can be funny!

I'm an old fart.....Saban's age in fact. While it is true that generalizations are never 100% accurate, it is nevertheless the case that in your early 60's, you laugh at people who tell you you ought to do something for the "challenge" of it. Saban has enough money that he won't go anywhere simply for that reason. And he likely is quite self-satisfied that he has "proven" himself. He is going to go where he finds it most entertaining and do what he considers to be the most fun. If that is continuing to coach, I cannot imagine why he would want to go through the headaches of building a program again. He KNOWS what it takes, He KNOWS the long hours and hard work and heart ache it can take. Why in anyone's name should he want to go through that again? He'll stay right where he is. It is his retirement job.

The ONLY possibility of him leaving will be the NFL, for the simple reason that he failed there, and that *might* be enough try it again. Not to prove anything to anyone else...but to himself. But I highly doubt it. I think he learned his lesson there.

Don't sleep on Chip Kelly to UTexas. Chip's O, much like Spurrier's O is already showing signs of failure in the Big Boy League. He will be clamoring for a place to run and hide back in the collegiate ranks. The high minded pink cowboys in Austin will be swept of their ponies with Chip's resume and the entertaining aspect of his offense. Thinking they can become Oregon, they will invest Millions in Chip and a designer to come up with 99 alternate uniforms for the boys to try on Saturdays.

511 total yards of offense is failure? It wasn't just a lot of plays either. 58 total plays against SD for 8.8 yards per play. I didn't watch the game, but I was impressed with their Washington game so I looked it up.

SD had more offense but actually had far more plays. It seems like the Eagles defense couldn't get them off the field, 10/15 on third down.

Predicting that Mack Brown is going to get fired is about as impressive as predicting the sun will come up tomorrow morning. I also don't think Saban is a good fit in Texas.
