So why don't we pass the hat around and get in this bidding war for Saban? I am tired of playing second, or third, or fourth, or whateverth to the Alabamas and Texas of the world.

Once we can shell out $100 million + 1% of our sports network, get the coach out of a $20 million debt, and donate tens of thousands of acres of land and call it Saban County, then we might have a chance. That plus no academic restrictions and a start to oversigning.

Interesting note:
Back in the day when we were trying to get Heisman, students would donate what they could to try to get Heisman here. The student paper (Not sure if it was the Technique at the time), would publish every students' name and how much they contributed so that people could ridicule and harass those that did not help the cause in hiring Heisman. This went on for years. Turns out it didn't matter as he would have moved to Atlanta for anything after marring his wife.

Was told by a great source (hopefully most are) Saban is still deciding at this hour. Weighing both sides carefully.

The system is broken when Saban is going to be pushing $10 million/year yet people think the players getting 3 years towards an SEC Communications degree is fair compensation for doing the work on the field.

So who gets the Bama job when Saban leaves? That's the real question. Can I go ahead and start the Mark Richt to Alabama rumors?

Smart/Strong. Though my current favorite rumor to make Bama fans mad is Dabo.
Strong? Nahh I think he's all-in for Florida next year. Smart is an interesting choice. But if you're an Alabama booster, you'd probably demand someone who has at least some head coaching experience.

I think Richt is a better fit for Texas, but I'll gladly jump on any rumor of Richt going anywhere.

Okay, so we've got two sources for Richt to Alabama. How many do we need before we can take this to the AJC?

Alabama breaks the bank OR Saban leaves them for Texas. WIN-WIN.

I could see Alabama trying to take the high road after Saban leaves, holding a press conference and saying they are not a business and the university comes first at Alabama, which would be laughable.

Yes because that cow college you cheer for is the pillar of academic and athletic integrity.

Well written.

If its $10 Million or more for Saban, IMO, the call
to start paying S-A's will get REAL loud.

Chip Brown said today that the deal Texas would put on the table would be no more than 7 million per year.

I doubt that, unless, Saban is somehow given a direct percentage ownership stake in the LHN, and I would be surprised if he's given an ownership stake.

IMO, Bama can match $7 Million, and has likely offered that to Saban in an extension of hius contract.

But I dont think Bama can (or wants to) match $10 Million.

IMO
