Does Vad's decision have any recruiting implications?

We still have several weeks before signing day so I ask those who follow recruiting if Vad's decision to leave puts us in a good spot with any recruits who otherwise did not want to consider a program they couldn't see starting for until their junior year.

I'm sure there are a few who might speculate that Vad's leaving sends the unambiguous message to the entire recruiting world that our program is in collapsing faster than a Haitian skyscraper during an earthquake so I am noting it here to avoid clogging the thread with naysayers who can't type it fast enough.

So, does this help us with any specific recruits that we were interested in but fell off their list?

Any QB looking at the depth chart has to be more enticed now. I wonder if they still plan on taking only one QB. Can't help WR recruiting much when your only true passer is gone. But then again they have to have an OL to start with. It's a vicious circle of death.

Don't see how it can help. His statement that it's because of the "system" is the recruiting equivalent of sending food back to the chef.

We will need to find a QB that is a terrible passer

Wish Vad Lee the best at his next school. Remember during his recruiment he commented that GT said they were changing the offense.

He transferred because such changes weren't made to fit his talents. Who would want to come play for a coach that lies to recruits?

the reality is, truthful or not, there is way too much "because of the system" comments floating around this program, ie in recruiting, players transferring (an OL a few years back left because "he didn't like getting his teeth kicked in every play cutting", Vad now, other QBs, a WR in Sims who got a NFL look etc etc etc) for this to start becoming a bigger public snowball GT will have to hurdle; we already had to hurdle the negative recruiting side from other schools

Will it effect this class, not sure

Has it in total affected the program negatively. Yes in perception and I also think in quality of players.

Cpj experiment at gt is over, we're just running his contract out from here on. Get ready for the suck to increase exponentially

If this dumbass of a head coach did try to change the offense, which by all indications at the beginning of the season he did "try"....he must have wrote a couple plays down on a cocktail napkin and threw it a way when he didn't like that we weren't running his ööööty offense good. If you were trying to change the offense, atleast be alitttle more professional about it and create a ööööing playbook, design a philosophy, do something!!! Its amatuer hour at the flats with this head coach and people, including our starting QB, are taking notice.

öööö just got a lot worse if that's true, IMO.

I don't think many here can even imagine how right you are. I have lived through the end of Pepper - the Curry 80 / 81 crap. - the Lewis horror and we are headed there quickly.

Just take recruiting. CPJ will be mediocre at best this year due to our losing record vs an average FBS schedule. Combine that with VL coverage and it might get ugly.

Next year, it is dead man walking re: recruiting. CPJ and his coaching / coaches won't change.

He has had 6 years. Anyone thinking we can not afford to get rid of him now has no concept of how much more this is going to cost us if we keep him.

Imagine, now, CPJ coming into a family's house and trying to recruit their son :-) :-) :-) :-)

I would take that with a grain of salt. NCSU thinks that everyone has a vendetta against them and if they didn't get someone it's because either a) they were lied to b) they got paid c) they're too stupid to go to NCSU.

That's my experience from reading their board over the years. Kind of funny in a sad, pitiful way.

EDIT: Wait, that sounds like us actually.

All their hate is directed at UNC. They admire and respect the GT program overall though they are not a fan of the triple option.

I believe every thing I read on team sports boards,

Yeah, I wouldn't base the future of our school upon something read on the fudge-pack pride board.

It wasn't a random post on their board. It's from the official twitter feed of their Scout affiliate. You know, the guys who actually cover recruiting. And it's not exactly classified information.

Jesus.

That's true overall but there's certainly that paranoid faction of NCSt folks MadTown mentioned.

They don't all hate the 3O based on what I've read there over the years.

So it was an official post on their sports message board. :turbonoes:
