There were some message board rumblings about possible OSU suspensions for the season opener @VT. Looks like the news is sarting to break. Looks like 4 guys - one of which is Joey Bosa (best DL in the country) will be suspended. Should be articles up soon.

OSU will still be favored by 14+, but the Bosa suspension is a big one IMHO. Foster will have that loaded defense ready to play against Urban's offense. But the issue will be VTs poor OL creating enough holes/time for the offense to do something with. Having the best DL in the country out of the equation helps that a lot.

Won't matter IMO. OSU would win with their 2 deep. Way too much talent for VT to compete.

Bosa is a big loss, but let's be honest...do we really expect VPI to win this game with offense? They've made our defense look good the last 3 or 4 years we've played them. Maybe just 3 out of 4.

VT is way better than last year, and they won of course. It's stupid to be dismissive of their chances this year.

The VT defensive front seven will give them a small chance for an upset in Blacksburg. I'm glad we don't play them until mid-November, because their average secondary might be the key to scoring on them. Our new receivers will have most of the season to get experience and establish timing with JT. Early in the season, I expect us to be more dependent on the rushing game.

An argument could be made that VT has the best DL in the country and the best DC in the country with a month+ to gameplan against an offense that he limited to 21 points the previous year on the road. I expect the game to be decided by 10 points or less. I'm just not sure I see the VT offense producing enough to win despite the good showing from the defense.

Something like 20-13 OSU.

With the suspensions and NFL, I think SU is missing 4 out of 5 leading receivers from 2014. Good for Bud Foster. If they can score a few TDs, they can win, but that's a big if.

Why do you say that? I dont see any reason to believe VT is any better than last year.

Could we see a repeat???

What are you looking at? They return almost the entire defense. Some of the preseason All ACC teams have all 4 of their DL in the 1st/2nd teams. I think they return 17 or 18 starters total. They've got Ford/Hodges to throw to and, it's a bit of a cop-out but...their OL really can't get any worse. They would probably argue year 3 under the new OC, but I happen to think Loeffler was a terrible hire so I'll leave that out.

If you can't look at that and conclude a team should be improved from last season, I'm not sure who you could conclude will be better?

I don't mean to seem callous, but it is very likely their head coach has cancer. That might be a distraction.

Last year's game was a total joke compared to how Ohio State played the rest of the year. OSU slept walk into and out of that game. Now with revenge on their mind?

(Edit to add: VT also played far better that game than they did all year.)

I think it's an easy 2 TD-plus win for OSU.

They laid some other duds like Penn State in 2OT and 31-24 over Minnesota. I do not like early road favorites. I do not like Virginia Tech, but if they can keep it close who knows.

I don't think they slept walked so much as their Offensive Line had not yet gelled very well. It was a perfect storm which also included losing their starting QB in Fall Camp.
