FTRS posted some pretty ugly Vines of the Duke game

That second one. WRs better be running blocking drills all öööö week. What the hell.

I was yelling at the TV on the Jeune missed block. I don't know why he was worried about blocking the second level when he has a defender right in his grill. If they cant block they shouldn't be out there. I think Jeune will be fine and get it right but that kind of play is going to get someone killed and certainly not move the chains....

Jeune missed his block on the corner, but Isiah Willis had a shot at it and passed on it, presumably to block the safety coming from the right side of the screen (he lowers his head right at the end of the vine)? Are the A backs just given one assignment (block safety) or are they allowed to check down to a different block if there's a missed assignment. If Willis blocks Jeune's man, Skov has a shot at catching the pitch, and if he did it would have been 7 or 8 yards until he's one on one with the safety.

I know CPJ likes to draw up these plays so that each one can go for a TD, but when things aren't clicking maybe we dial it down and block 2-on-1 at the point of attack (or maybe Willis was just confused).

This is better and worse than I thought because it solidifies my theory about why the offense isn't working. And it's not because we played teams who know how to defend the option well. That part is good, the bad part is the offense is showing all the symptoms of a young inexperienced one and I don't think it's something that will be fixed in a week or two unless they practice nonstop without sleep for the next month.

What's going to happen next is we're gonna hear CPJ talking about simplifying the plays after our next loss. I pray to God that the defense can bail us out next Saturday.

Another thing to add is I'm pretty sure I read that CPJ said Oline wasn't playing great last year either but we had more playmakers in the offense which fooled us into thinking we had a solid o-line. I remember from last year , get behind Shaq was the term coined for the dive and that is nonexistent at this point because there's no Shaq and there's no Days or Laskey. I remember those guys breaking tackles and getting to the 2nd level which we don't have with Skov who's used to 3-4 yard runs into the endzone. Perimeter blocking worked last year because of Perkins, Waller, and Smelter. We've got new guys in all those positions and the only one with experience is not 100% coming back from injury.

This is gonna be a really long year. And it sucks that it's happening when we have the best defense we've had in awhile. Who might have to bail our asses more than a couple of times this year.

For some reason, Thomas doesn't seem to trust his teammates this year as much as he did last year. He has tried to do way too much in the last two games.

Would you trust them if they let 3 guys in your face every time you're trying to do anything?

Is there no pass interference behind the LOS? Was wondering that during the game on the play when the forward pitch to the back was dropped but ruled an incompletion. The "receiver" was demolished but not sure if he touched the ball first.

The offensive line's ability to block has been pretty poor, thus far, but perimeter blocking and back blocking has been horrid, as well. I haven't had much of a chance to see any tape and be able to break down exactly what is being done and by whom, but I have seen so many bad blocks and attempts at blocks by just everyone in general, but I surely don't remember it being that bad last year.

There isn't pass interference at or behind the line of scrimmage. There is, however, holding that can still be called on the defender behind the line of scrimmage.

If JT just makes the öööö read we get six on the dive. Instead it's a fumble:

Watch our players try to block. It's headshakingly terrible. We've got guys literally running right past each other in opposite directions while Duke players run right past both of them:

#58 & #65 just dove at knees...missed...and ended up looking stupid in the mud.

#3 does an admirable job of diving at the Puke player's knees.

Why not stand up and block normally rather than rolling around on the ground like an idiot?

Most teams cut block on the outside, including Duke. Cutliffe said a couple of years ago that cut blocks should be illegal, but then changed his mind when he implemented them in his own offense on the perimeter.

The life of a Tech fan means having good offense or good defense, but never both.
