---especially in the passing game. His loss really hurt the offense as did many other injuries. Nightmares do come true.

Ol' cincyjacket. Spreading his wisdom like the plague.

We'd be bowling if he had been available to play as backup. Well, that and if Gotsis was also available.

Gotsis and some JUCO transfer OL maybe. Good lord we're such a mess up front. I'm scared to death of our spring game. If we see the exact same stuff on the line in the spring I'm going to have to start pre-gaming for BC in April.

Sewak needs a few more years to fix it. Ye of little faith.

"Put the white guy in! Stewart can't get it done by himself!!!1!"

There were several times where TB could have helped us out today. On an early series we had 2nd and 1 and couldn't get one yard in the next 3 plays. A bigger, more physical QB may have helped. Also, doubt TB throws the red zone INT or missed MM wide open.

I don't think saying we go bowling with TB is too big of a stretch. I think we win today with him. Add in the missed TD pass vs UVA to Stewart for our 5th win. The series vs UNC where JT got stuffed on the 1 a couple of times probably turns out differently.

I suspect JT would have been given a couple of games off to heal if TB had been healthy. Not to mention that we really could have used Matthew Jordan's size at A Back in some of the games had TB been healthy. How screwy is it that a season ending injury to the backup QB may have been the key to the season?

Indeed. Though a backup QB injury having a big impact on our season fits in perfectly with everything else that's happened this year.

CPJ probably would have changed his play selection at times this season if he had Byerly available. It's possible that an effective QB dive would have limited our opponents' desire to get penetration with their DL. But because of JT's size and the fact that he was banged up much of the season, we didn't really run the QB up the middle much. Also, having an experienced backup QB might have allowed JT to get some recovery time this season.

The inexperience and youth of the BBs limited their threat with this OL, too. Defenses could concentrate on getting into our backfield on option plays, as well as pass rush. A healthy JT can usually outrun one defender and still have a chance to make a play but, more often than not, he was being chased by 2-3 guys. Just like any offense, if you can contain one part of their system, it's like removing one gear from the machine.

I think we needed a more physical experienced QB at times this year and it might have been the difference in the outcome for a few games, but it wouldn't make up for an ineffective OL.

A healthy byerly definitely would have outplayed Thomas vs UGA. He was god awful

My theory is that JT5 has been injured all season, which was the reason for the preseason non-contact jersey. I wouldn't be surprised to hear about JT5 undergoing shoulder surgery shortly.

If that's true, JT5 wold have been less likely to play hurt with Byerly available.

Some of JT's errant passes and passes out of bounds would have probably been sacks with Byerly so you have to figure that in somehow. No QB is going to be that effective the way our OL was blocking. JT's speed helped things somewhat, take that speed away and I'm not sure Byerly has time to find a receiver.
