ESPN removes Navy QB from Heisman voting

Navy called them out for it on their official Twitter account. They're actually sticking up for their guy, which is pretty awesome. Removing him from the ballot is really pathetic.

So much bigcry. The guy isn't a real Heisman candidate. Playing 10 Tulanes a year is a disqualifier.

somebody still mad at the Navy for sending them to the desert, huh?
if playing 10 Tulane's a year were something bad, why does the Navy do it just like the Naval Academy? It aint like the USN is facing off against the Alabamas of the world

I mean on the flip side, who really cares who you play if the success is just as much due to others as it is to the players' skill?

The Bama RB's numbers are 30% offensive line, 20% other side of the ball.

I voted for him to spite ESPN. Dick move on their part.

I'd say the butthurt is from ESPN. If you don't want him getting votes, don't put him on the ballot. It's stupid to put him on and then take him off when people vote for him.

There was an update to the link, apparently it's because ESPN's experts don't rank him as a candidate in their Heisman watch anymore.

Interestingly enough, this is probably only the 3rd best year of his career. His sophomore year was the best.

Still stupid. Waiting to take him off after he takes a huge lead in the fan vote with the excuse of "we don't think he should be a real candidate so now you can't either" is pathetic.

Presumably it's because Navy lost to Houston. Agreed it looks bad in this situation, but I really doubt there's any nefarious intent. Wouldn't surprise me if the experts doing the watch didn't even realize at the time it would cause him to be taken off of the fan vote.

If anything, I'm sure ESPN would love to have him choppering in to New York after the game to attend the ceremony. Military appreciation is easy goodwill for them, and it would be pretty cool. They could have a chopper cam and everything.

Heisman Trophy is a sham anyway.

No longer "The Best Player in College Football", it has become the best skill player on a top ten team in a P5 conference.

Good football players from non-P5 schools or from P5 schools not ranked in the top 10 or so Need Not Apply.
