This! Plus, travwp76 might wanna read Ken Sugiura's article in this morn's ajc sports section for a dose of reality. Of course the article is waaay understated or it probably wouldn't have been published. That worked so well for us the last time we tried it.
He will stay as long as he wants to..go 7 and 5 beat ga every few yrs and go to a no nothing bowl...he is solid with AD and young guys....
Yes I believe he could get away with both and not get fired. Can he molest girls? What about mansluaghter?
And Gespacho, I think that Tech can definitely afford to fire him. If you bring in a coach that runs a pro-style offense, you can recruit skill players out of Atlanta and not to mention defensive linemen who don't want to be cu-blocked in practice for 4 years. Just my $.02
Win 8 or win 7 with a win over UGAGCheers everyone! Just wanted to get everyone's take on what you think CPJ has to do to keep his job, aside from beating UGA?
Don't call me pal.You should re-read your posts before sending them. Just a tip pal.
I don't think it's necessarily a stupid question. While I do think CPJ is one of the best possible coaches in the entire country, especially for our situation, he has definitely underachieved at Tech, and I think he would agree with that. We've seen some tremendous potential in 2009 and 2014, but recruited poorly and pissed away chances many other years. He's safe in 2016 IMO, but I think the fanbase has begun to polarize to the point that another sub-500 year would put him squarely on the hot seat for 2017.
Also, I think PJ would probably quit before we fired him, especially if we can't rebound to compete for division titles within the next 2 years. He's as competitive as they come and isn't used to losing.

You're problem is your $.02. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. You certainly have one. Made it clear. You don't know what GT can or can't afford. You're just spewing venom. And Gespacho, I think that Tech can definitely afford to fire him. Disagree. No coach is going to quit before getting fired unless the can get some sort of buyout and a decent job lined up (see GT basketball).
Our recruiting hasn't been bad. Over the last two years we have had 5-6 guys drafted. Considering most of our Abacks will never get drafted, we are doing pretty good.
Over the last 4 years, we have played in 2 ACCCG and been to the OB once. That is better than anyone in the division. We have had a tougher path to the cg than anyone other than Miami.
Last year sucked. 2014 was great. What happens this year is a mystery. I suspect a 7 win season. Hopefully, JT5 goes out with a great season, but iiwii.
I'm also assuming the CPJ has already slaughtered at least one man while he's been our coach.
