I went to the game and sat up in section 435. Looking across the stadium, the ENTIRE Kentucky side was Kentucky-blue. The announced crowd was over 44k. I'm thinking over 30k of those were from Kentucky.
My question is: What did UK do to get such a huge following? I'm it's not like they're a great football team.
Of all the teams we played this year (besides Mercer), who would they have beaten?

I get that wanting to watch GT beat a 6-6 Kentucky team (one of the worst 5 football programs in Div1) is not real appealing but our turnout was poor.

State school, first bowl game in however long. Don't think anybody doubted they'd fill more seats. Not to mention the fact that a good portion of our traveling fanbase spent a couple grand on Ireland this season.

Also, not liked it helped them too much - although in their defense they didn't have much to cheer about outside of a couple 1st downs, a blocked punt, and some garbage time scores.

There were lots of Tech fans standing up and cheering at the end. Until then I was thinking that there was a ton of Kentucky on out side. There was some, but not as much as I thought.

Too many of GT fans wearing blue or navy?

Or maybe the Kentucky fans were cheering for the end of football season?
The Kentucky fans were very good about wearing that shade of blue. They represented quite well. Our fans typically just wear whatever. IIWII.

Yeah. I wear whatever because our marketing department sucks at getting colors and designs approved. Check out jackets and such in the official store on RR.com. There are more jackets in "slate" than there are in white or gold. That's why iiwii.

And you think Kentucky's store doesn't sell colors other than blue? Stop making excuses and buy some white and gold colored gear. It ain't that hard.

I've got plenty of white and gold. Just not in outerwear. Most of the gold jackets are pretty ugly too.

You think Kentucky blue is pretty? No. It is for attending the games and showing the team colors. Grow a pair. If trailer-residing, mouth-breathing redneck UGA fans can afford some red gear, I'm sure you can afford some dedicated gameday gear.

Plenty of good options here:

You wear one of these with a hoodie and you will be warm in just about any conditions.

Kentucky had more fans, but not 30k/43k. Remember that the whole stadium only seats 67k, so filling up their lower bowl isn't all that impressive. They probably had about 50% more than we did, like 24k Kentucky fans and 16k Georgia Tech fans.
