Johnson to retire

Who here in ST land lives near the airport -we expect confirmation on potential coaching sightings ...get on it.

öööö. He was close to perfect for GT. As was the offense. Gave us an identity, though I could have gone for some added wrinkles (occassional hurry-up, occassional shotgun, etc) but I'll miss it.

Don't know that we'll do better with a new coach, especially if we go with someone vanilla. I do know that I won't look forward to game days as much if we run the some damn offense as everyone else.

Oh well, öööö it, Leach, Kiffin, Briles. Why the öööö not.
It’s going to be interesting to see what direction we go after this.

Do we keep the option and hire one of his disciples or do we go far away from the option?

This will be a truly program defining hire for us.

Like I said in that other thread, heard from a big booster I know that he is retiring, this guy is a pretty good source, old feller, but he always seems to have the inside news, and this was before uga game.

He did not decide until after the game.

It'll be interesting to see what we look like on the market.

Could be a good year to be looking. The really big jobs may not be open. UNC would be a competitor, but they already hired someone who would have never been on our radar.

I am sad and excited and scared...like Jessie from Saved by the Bell when she got addicted to caffeine pills.

I'm grateful for CPJ. He had a couple bad years, but also the most exciting years of GT football that I can remember (too young for 1990). And he's retiring with a decent record, not making us fire him after a 2-10 season or something like that. Good luck in retirement, Paul.
