1st TE in 11 years

Glad to have him but when will we see the 4 and occasional 5 star recruits coming in that I hear that our new coach is pursuing. And he is a great recruiter.

Hopefully Wednesday.

But if not, Thursday.

In 12 months.

Is it time now to bring my "Will throw to TE for food" sign out of retirement?

Zero TEs on the team and this is it? He has only played a year and a half? Congrats to the kid.

I sure hope the guy plays great, but I have to say this reminds me of Francis Kallon. I don't think he ever quite reached the upside we all hoped for him.
Based on what? Your intense scouting of the kid or just you being a dick? We don't know öööö about him or what coach sees that perhaps your expert eyes don't.

Jesus ööööing Christ. Calm down already. We've had a new coach a grand total of a few weeks. You assholes need to stop with the ööööing "woe is me" öööö already
Screw off, I congratulated the kid. he turned a year-and-a-half of playing organized football into a scholarship to Georgia Tech. That's pretty amazing.

Nobody is being a dick, just pointing out similarities. Its based on him having almost no experience playing the sport like Kallon? Remember Kallon was a 4 star with a lot of bigtime offers despite almost no football experience, and never played to the potential everyone though he was going to have.

And his position coach wasn't retained by CNW much less CGC. I haven't heard about S&C yet, but that needs to be reformed too. Kallon is not the only player who lacked on the development curve.

Kallon not reaching his upside was mostly CPJ's fault

Kallon came out of HS as a former Soccer player turned FB player with great agility and speed for his size, 6-5 maybe 6-6 and 255ish pounds, he was projected as a pass rushing DE

After he got to GT ,CPJ did such a poor job at recruiting interior DLinemen, that they decided to fatten up Kallon to try and move him inside to make up for CPJ's recruiting deficiencies, Kallon got up to 6-6 maybe 305lbs and just never developed as an inside DL

After that experiment failed they tried to slim him down again and move him back to DE, but he never had the same agility and explosion that he showed on film coming out of HS

I think Kallon spent 1 or 2 yrs on the Steelers practice squad

Had Kallon been handled as a project and given time to learn DE at the college level and been developed to maintain his speed & agility by our Strength coaches he might have made a pretty good DE, alas we'll never know

This is yet another cautionary tale of what happens when your main Recruiter has a "they all come highly recommended and, it is what it is" as a recruiting strategy

Better than he can play LB?
He hasn't seen much game time at LB and was on the scout team at least 2 seasons. Given our lack of availability at the position there's a chance he was playing TE on the scout team but that's just my speculation.
