Why do we hate them ?

For the origins of the rivalry the COFH wiki page has a good summary. But I’ll try here:

Think they stoned our players after the first matchup when we beat them.

Something about them throwing a parade to mock our team winning during the war (we trained officers at Tech so had good players on campus).

They were instrumental in blocking Tech from rejoining the SEC.

The nature of their school and location lends itself to (on-average) a lesser-educated fanbase while ours lends itself to a more-educated fanbase. That discrepancy is a recipe for dislike both directions.

They pretend not to hate us under the pretense that we aren’t good enough to hate. Their fans will tell you every chance they get that they don’t care about Tech. I once had a guy i had just been introduced to at a friends Falcons tailgate tell me he didn’t consider us a rival. First thing he said to me after we shook hands. Thought he was a Saints fan til he pointed to my Tech hat.

They celebrate their mascot that is literally an inbred dog. The process for maintaining the lineage is inhumane to the animal and results in shortened lifespans.

Athens is a progressive cesspool
uga is not a good school but, due to demand, is difficult to get into
It is not a school that is difficult to get out of
Red and black are the colors of the devil whereas white and gold are holy (not to say either school is evil or holy, just referring to what the colors call to mind)
The uga logo / flag looks like the logo / flag of nazi germany. Just replace the swastika with a G. They are scarily similar making me believe that there was some kkk influence in its creation
They ripped off their logo from the Green Bay Packers
They ripped off their fight song from the Confederates
Their mascot is generic and ubiquitous throughout college sports. They should officially change their mascot to the "Dwags" just to differentiate themselves with some accuracy
They are Goliath and we are David when it comes to college sports which, in the big scheme of things, don't have any impact on my economic well-being. Yet, their fans hold it over us like it matters.

and I love Tech. Seeing those gold helmets run onto the field gives me chills every time.

And they have the school of veterinarian medicine that ought to know better, but doesn't give öööö.

Everything about uga is fake. They exclaim that they have great tradition. Aside from claiming preseason #1 and not winning national championships, they are wrong. They think their hedges are so precious, but not only did their own fans destroy them over a win against Tennessee, they aren't even unique to uga; USCjr, UNC, and Auburn use them. Do I even have to talk about their arch? Yeah, they've had a consistently good program at football, but if you talk to their fans, they would have you believe they are alabama, or at the very least are going to be bama this year. Their only real tried and true tradition is their fans being complete douchebags, barking in public.

We're not any more obnoxious than Florida fans, Miami fans or Auburn fans.

And if you think Clemson fans are "cool", then you just happen to be lucky enough to not know the ones I do.

The truth is, Tech fans dislike us for the same reason we dislike Florida--- Georgia is just a better football program than Georgia Tech, by any measure, and we have your number.

Now Florida isn't a better football program than Georgia, but until recently they beat us like a drum, and as a result we hate them. Fortunately for us, Kirby is going to change that. Our only rival for the next 10 or more years will be Bama. They are the only ones that will stand between us and a NC.

White trash rhetoric

Everyone should experience a Tech game in Athens. I'm just waiting to decide how old my son needs to be before I take him. I was born into a GT family but my hatred of everything uGA has grown exponentially since adolescence.
Been to MANY Tech vs Ugag at their cesspool. Endured their "behavior" for toooo long. Got into several "altercations" there-but-after the 2006 game i SWORE off ever going back.--(haven't and i WILL NOT.)

DaMutts
I hate 'em for taking cheap shots on ELI
I hate 'em for their fake classes aka Jan Kemp
I hated Lewis Grizzard , may he smoke an Uga turd in hell
Growing up in small town Georgia having to listen to their white trash fans
Their fans take offense at being educated
Their stadium and school is a dump and seeing them throw trash at apposing fans is classless
They have zero relevant tradition...If Clemson had bought Hoyshell a trans am then they wouldn't even have 1980.
Their "natty championship" was a sham; they beat 4 teams with a winning record and DID NOT play BAMA (10-2) or LSU (7-4) ...but they managed to schedule TCU (1-10) and Texas A&M (4-7)
Their school is not difficult to gain admission but not because it has prestige but due to the Hope scholarship

eat a sack lunch off my taint bitch

I was asked a question recently from a good friend of mine why Tech fans hate uga. While I looked at him sideways when he asked this, it really was a legit question. I know all of you have different reasons, and I'd love to hear. I really only have one reason for my disdain for them- it's their fans. The truth is my father is who I have to thank for being a yellow jacket. He graduated in '75 and it rubbed off on me. As a kid, I got made fun of for wearing tech gear and pulling for them but it didn't bother me. However, the older I got, the more obnoxious "they" became. I could care less about Athens, the school, the players, etc. Their fans just rub me the wrong way. I don't like them. Why can't they be cool like Clemson fans? At least Tiger fans show some sense of decency.
I don't "hate" anyone, and certainly not over something that doesn't save me time or make me money.
But... UGA fans meet and exceed the definition of "fanatics". They are delusional to the point of almost being down right silly, and most have no affiliation with The University of Georgia whatsoever. The University of Georgia (and their fanbase) is not unique in this regard, but they value winning on the football field more than academics and education. They are a "win at all costs" football program, and represent all that I disrespect and dislike about college football.

I went to the 1998 version of COFH as a 12 year old with my UGA alum grandfather (who was a WWII B-17 pilot and great human being). I learned lots of new words that day, saw glass bottles being thrown, and witnessed more trashy behavior than I certainly ever had to that point. That got things started.

Well I do not hate UGA because their fan base includes all classes in the state of Georgia. In fact, I wish Tech fans would drop the whole "we're better than you" and allow us to get more sidewalk fans.

I do hate UGA however because they naturally have a closer connection to the workings of the state as they "educate" (sic) lawyers and future politicians, newsboys, etc, and as they are a major education school for the state. UGA has all the advantages in the world and they still do everything they can to hold Tech back. The local paper is the only one in the country who öööös on their local team; they certainly do not support the notion that Tech is trying to win and provide a real education to its players. The Board of Regents does everything they can to hurt Tech and help UGA, including taking our successful School of Commerce back in the day. Teachers generally push UGA only, although today teachers are pushing much bigger political issues in the wrong way.

I dated a UGA grad briefly fifteen years ago. She was having a great time on Tech campus before the UGA game. Then I walked her around campus and she was appalled at how UGA fans acted. However, she, like all the rest, do nothing about it, in the end.

But the real reason I hate UGA is because Ma Tech forces us to compete with one arm tied behind our backs. UGA fans are true dogs and it comes from a complete inferiority complex because they know we are beating them 40% of the time while completely held back by our school. If the state and our school would get out of our way, we'd dominate state athletics and honestly I hate both for that. But I know deep down it's the "educated" lawyers/politicians from UGA holding us down and so I hate all things red.

I don't hate anyone, but the reason the dwags are hated is cuz they are so hatable

haha. I have the dwag ignored already so I just see random insults directed at no one.

Since that win in 1998 we are 6-15 against them. That has to change.

We don’t hate them because of the dad fight. We don’t hate them because of their sense of entitlement. We don’t hate them because they look down on Tech. We hate them because they exist. Hatred of everything that is not us, and also sometimes us, is the core requirement of being a Tech man. Uga is the embodiment of that hate so we can focus 99% of it on them and not on people who don’t deserve our hate.

I have a surprise for Uga fans on Nov 30 after the game if our boys can pull off the victory.

They ripped off their fight song from the Confederates

Actually, the Battle Hymn of the Republic is a yankee song and is what Sherman played when he burned down Atlanta.

Also add in the fact that their band is called the "redcoats". We beat the redcoats in two different wars...I'll let you fill in what to say about that.

I have one uga friend. And he is the son #62 Keith Bouchillon from the 1980 uga football team. And the kid is so nice, he alternates between his dad’s uga hat and the Tech hat I gave him as a present just because “he likes Tech too and it’s a present.” Other than him they can all go to hell.
