Nice! Picked Georgia Tech over Miami, Mississippi State, Boston College, and Louisville.
Everyone let that offer list sink in. I know we have to see results on the field, but it is nice to get guys that so many other programs want.

Have you been following recruiting at all this cycle? Basically every single commit we have has a multiple P5 offers, and the guys who committed to us before they had other have since blown up and gotten a bunch.

I think a number of the kids we are taking are on our b list. We will never know who, but it fits the cycle of events for about a third of the kids.

But our b list fallbacks have better offer lists than who we have been recruiting. That is what should sink in.

Would love to see an analysis on that last statement.

B list vs A- list is quibbling. We have someone on campus. Dude sez it wuz great but not for them. Coaches take the hard no and get on the phone with someone else, with either a conditional or just not pushed to pull the trigger. Then Suddes posts on twitter.

Ot they use the old trick of First One To Commit. They see a dude on campus and decide there is no difference between him and another guy at the same position. They call a guy and he says yes.

I don't think Trent had anything to do with Tate.

  1. It is some hard as heck game theory these coaches have to work. Risk a high 3 now for a 50-50 on a 4?
  2. Imho we are doing a great job with it landing top 25 players.
  3. We are filling up fast so no way these guys are stretches. These are top 25 guys.(A roster full of guys this good will certainly be a top 25 team)
  4. There are several reasons we might not be holding out for 5s and 4s. One possibility, of course, is we dont think we can land them when the chips are down. Perhaps. But there are many other good reasons.
  5. Personally I think it is about the culture. Players can geel the fit, but the more primadonna you are the more external pressure you are getting. In year one it is going to be harder for the 4s and 5s to pull the trigger with so many questioning the decision even though they can feel the fit.
  6. This is about the 4s and high 3s really. The gap between these players is razor thin, especially the ones we are landing which all come with upside. These arent the "5-8 linebacker - best football player we ever had at BFHS" overachiever types. Love those guys but these guys have the physical gifts to progress beyond the limits that cap 99% of the HS overachievers.
  7. If the 4s slow play us we are wisely taking high 3s. The gap between these guys on average is too small to matter whereas the gap between the average high 3 and low 3 is much bigger. 4s have to know the window here is closing fast. Heck, the high 3s know it. They can tell there is gonna be a scramble to get one of our scholarships and if they dont commit soon then they will be left out.
  8. 5s on the other hand... If a five wants in late i bet we can find a slot.
  9. I can say one more critical thing about this. Players in 2021 are going to believe it when people say if you think you want to go to GT you need to commit early because a lot of good players want to come here and they fill up fast. If you are deciding between Auburn or Tennessee or South Carolina who the öööö cares if one fills up and you have to go to the other. All the SEC schools except Vandy and Bama are the same. GT is different. If you think ahead (the 40 year plan) and/or love the big city/dont want to play in BFE (and literally travel two states away max ever) then there are only 20-25 slots like that.

What should hold more weight, number of stars or number of P5 offers? It seems to me in the past we have taken 3 star players with no major program offers. Now we are in the conversation for players with dozens of offers from impressive programs.

The good offers thing has a bit of a barbarians at the gates effect. A guy can get a great offer and suddenly a ton of major programs make an offer reactively. My guess is that it is multivariate. IDK Suddes’ secret sauce but he is obviously finding some good talent.
