I missed the weight lifting on the sideline during game but could not mis the big yellow donuts in pregame- clearly part of tackling drill prep. Obviously it helped. We talked better. However there were some interesting comments I heard that tweaked my interest. One was well if some giants donuts rush the field GT will be ready. Second was - is this a gimmick and are gimmicks a part of the new GT culture?

I am old school and never a fan of gimmicks but I am really exited by the fresh new direction. To this end. If it helps go for it.

Final observation and I ask if others noticed. Maybe my eyes were playing tricks. Scenario- The normal pre kickoff hype and music and dancing was unfolding. Score was 28 to zip I think and coach Collins was doing a bit of low key grab the music dancing on the sideline. Again old school here but I had a brief - stop the PR culture tour for a minute and not look to be having too much fun.

Anyway curious on this one. Overall these young men fought hard and much to be proud of. Looking forward to next week

I swear. Like literally if you watched the game you saw "All In" Clemson clips of them tackling rolling orange donuts. It's a thing. It's okay.

The takeaway board was catching some flak on social media though. I never thought about it, but is the board a little cringey?

It's prime real estate for shopping macros on a blank board

Yep. Teams have been using those for a few years. My high school uses them every practice.

“Wrap and Roll”

Frankly, I was a bit uncomfortable when I saw our guys curling barbells on the sidelines.

First of all, who the hell (outside of Venice Beach) curls barbells anymore? Curls are a worthless exercise so can only assume this was set up as some sort of "we are tough dudes - we lift all the time". That's fine but curls are the absolute worst lift to make that statement. 75Kg kettlebell snatches, on the other hand, would let everyone know that you are not effing around.

But all that aside, I like the swagger we have now. We got our ass kicked last night but that happens when you step into the ring against the world champion. Everyone we play from here on out will be considerably easier to defeat.

Yep. Exactly why I said if it helps I am for it. Just never saw either before / during a live game. Have not been to a practice.

If you are down 28-0 to the #1 team in the country, as the coach what is your focus?

It should be to hold your team together. If that involved shuffling his feet to music that's okay. The season is long and so is the future of the program. The kids do a lot more than just dancing, but dancing is a tool to keep them involved.

And do you really want to be the guy going up and down the row repeating, "Don't have FUN. You are supposed to be miserable right now!"

Am I the only one who feels like Techbert is the only adult here and all the rest of us are just children?

Exactly why you do curls during an incredibly taxing anaerobic activity like playing football.

I suspect the barbells were there to relieve the frustration and pent up energy of the team members, and to distract them from the bad news on the field. You get all pumped up and need to do something but you are only allowed to stand around? It is not physically productive but neither is hitting each other and you don't really do that after kickoff. Curls give them something to do and something to do with their hands.

I can think of worse things they could be doing, and they were not going to wear themselves out doing it.

Gimmicks are only gimmicks if you dont win. Clemson's poker chips would be ridiculed nonstop if they weren't a powerhouse now.
If GT starts dominated the game, the twitter board will all of a sudden be loved and we'll see teams around the country copy it.
