Stop Blaming the Previous Coach

You guys that are blaming PJ sound like people who cry about the President for 4 years, and then when their guy gets elected and is even worse, they still blame the previous guy because they can't process the fact that they were wrong. You went from complaining about games where we scored 30 points but got stopped on a key drive, to trying to justify getting blanked by Temple.

Paul Johnson was a very good coach at GT. Not perfect, but usually good and sometimes great. He almost always had us punching above our weight, at times incredibly so. Those of you who thought he was a problem that we needed to be rid of should be embarrassed, especially after what we've seen so far. It was time for him to go, but saying he drove us to where we are now is absurd. We almost won our division just last season.

That being said, it's still too early to definitively judge Collins. He's obviously a better program salesman than PJ, so if he becomes anywhere near as good of a coach, we'll have some fun football to watch. Until then, we get to watch what happens when we no longer out-scheme our opponents on a weekly basis.

PJ lost 4 out of his last 5 to Duke. I think we can all agree that Georgia Tech should be a better football program than Duke. Pj wasn’t getting it done. It was time to move on.

I have some news that might surprise you. Losing to a team a few times doesn't mean they passed us. We beat UGA 2 out of 3 times from 2014 to 2016. At any point did you feel like we had become a better program than them?

But I agree and even said so in the post that you apparently didn't read. It was time to move on because things had stagnated. 11 years is a long time.

Totally different situation than any other coaching change.

Also, if you want to talk about Georgia...you don’t think their success has anything to do with us tanking in recruiting? We didn’t even come close to competing with them during the off-season.

Justin Thomas was a gamer. Take away Thomas and Nesbitt and you got nothing. We were blessed, or cursed, that Thomas decided to spurn Alabama.
The horrors of this season aren’t worth trading in the glories of that one so I’ll go with blessed.

The mob always needs a Scapegoat. If we could only all agree on one. Waiting patiently with pitchfork ready.
We're recruiting better, our defense is better, our offense is ABYSMAL.

Scapegoat seems obvious to me.

Agreed, but CPJ did put the program where it is today.

We are blaming CPJ for the roster composition, not the coaching so far.

The defense has shown more life this season in a new scheme than we’ve seen since probably 2008. That with a seriously lacking front 4 and youth all over the place.

The offense is atrocious (as it was for most of 2008 with way more talent). If anyone recalls 2008...we would go for long stretches without moving the ball for öööö...then Dwyer or BeyBey (with their NFL talent) would bust like a 70 yard play. I’m not sure Patenaude has the answers, but this transition on O was always going to be a major uphill climb.

People need to get over themselves and support the program. Enjoy the ride, and appreciate progress towards the end destination...don’t get so fixated on the W-L in 2019. The program needs your support now more than ever.
