Do I stay or do I Go?

Saban has had several players leave. Should Alabama fans be worried about his ability to identify talent?
At Bama, it's called too much talent, big difference. Let me know when Geoff takes the team to the playoffs almost every season.

We were overthrowing Brown on every play last year. I think he just didn’t care for Jeff Sims. Pure speculation on my part so I could definitely be wrong.

All the other teams in the NCAA also have problems identifying talent, other than Saban, since his cup overfloweth with talent? Is it just Collins? Almost every team has portal players.

I think we just had better, bigger, receivers, unless you think Brown is a Stefon Diggs talent. Of course, Brown isn't even as big as Diggs, who is considered a small WR

Diggs was also a 5* receiver out of high school. So not really like Brown at all.

Hold up on blasting AB. Someone from the Swarm caught this. The posted article is fake news.

See true quote in this article.

Read the differences of the quotes between these two articles. The entire meaning of his quote was butchered - on purpose it seems to play up the whole SEC is better nonsense.
Literally the first quote of his from the article you linked:

“Going into the portal I wanted to go somewhere that would get me to the NFL,” Brown explained in his first meeting with the South Carolina media. “I always knew the SEC would probably be the route for me, whether that was coming out of high school or with things going on at Georgia Tech.

Right. The exclusion of “Going into the portal” changes the meaning of that line as quoted in the initial article.

Initial article: AB saying (basically)...I had to leave GT to get to the NFL.

That is what the author wanted it to say. He editorialized the quote to make it say what he wanted.

Real article: AB saying (basically)...once I decided to leave, I wanted to find a place to help me get to the NFL.

The difference between the initial quote and real quote is night and day.

I read it the opposite way with his inclusion of GT at the end of the quote. Him saying "I always knew the SEC would probably be the route for me, whether that was coming out of high school or with things going on at Georgia Tech."

To me that sounds like his goal was to go to the SEC either out of high school or after using GT (or any other school) as a stepping stone. I have heard that his circle has been giving him some poor advice, and this seems to follow along with that. As another poster on here said, he was practically begging for other SEC schools to offer him when he went into the portal, and was lucky to land at USCe, because that definitely was not his first choice.

Sounds like he's "NFL or bust", especially if you choose USuCk to complete your education over GT

Not necessarily. It depends on his grades. Getting a degree from USC is better than not getting a degree at Tech. And not transferring in a lower gpa to USC by sticking it out too long at Tech before transferring is probably a good idea too.

I don’t hold any ill will towards guys doing what they feel is best for them.

As for football, Brown was a deep ball vertical threat. Sims did not show he could hit that consistently as a true Fr. That was the one place Graham was a noticeably better QB. What’s Brown going to do? Wait to see if his QB develops in a way that fits his skillset while hoping he doesn’t get passed on the depth chart? I hope he finds a role at USC that helps them beat uga.

Ehh... I agree with you to a point, but I think it was more that folks caught on to Brown than Sims unable to throw the deep ball. In Brown's freshman year, he was running by people and Graham was just hanging it out there letting him run under it. By year 2, everybody knew he was fast and respected that. He isn't an elite route runner and is too small to play physical with big corners/safeties so he wasn't getting any separation. There were a couple deep balls to him that missed the mark but there were also a couple I remember that he should've caught last season also and dropped.

There were some he should have pulled in, but there were plenty of overthows. Brown would have definitely benefited from having a second deep threat for the safety to consider.

I thought Sims looked like a true Fr on those long throws, which he was. You don’t see a lot of guys get a shot right out of hs and even fewer have the greenlight for those deep throws. He should improve on that, but some guys don’t. I think Sims worried more about underthrowing the ball, which is good.

You don't transfer in a GPA, you transfer in credit. In his first semester at USCe, he'll have no GPA. All A's in his first USC semester, he'll have a 4.0 GPA, no matter what his GT GPA was.

Didn’t know that. Still, if you are going to switch, it is probably best to do it early.

Not the way it worked for my son. His GPA went with him. For HOPE it all counts.
