2022 Recruiting

Also got a FutureCast for Damari Alston over the weekend... Rivals top 250 RB and just out of the top 300 on 247. (247 by the way doesn't even show GT as warm for him. :rotfl:)

Seems GT is on the precipice of several huge commitments. If Morris, Alston, Willis were to all commit this evening, GT would be ranked 23rd overall for Class of 2022 with only 6 commits - only two schools ranked ahead of us would have the same number or fewer commits

That’s a somewhat irrelevant stat but one that I like regardless. If Collins can do this after two 3 win seasons I’ll probably faint at what he could do with success.
My philosophy with our schedule always having Clemson and Georgia: you have to go 10-2 before you go 12-0

CGC looking to make a run at that 07 class.

If we get all 3, the sky is the limit for this class. You add those guys to the current list, and who wouldn’t want to join in?

We appear to be going for broke. Coming off two low win seasons and the 2021 schedule isn't kind. Makes perfect sense to go all-in on recruiting. Upgrading our talent is necessary to take the next step.

You make that sound like a bad thing? Are you saying the staff is recruiting young kids that aren't capable of being GT student atheletes?

I think he’s saying that unlike previous staffs who would take 3 star commits early on in the process, we are getting into battles for these players higher on our list and taking a chance missing out on them. No where in his post does it mention academics.

BigDanT is correct.

As far as "a bad thing", do you understand the concept of going for broke?

You are giving up one thing to try to get something better. If you fail, then yeah, its a bad thing. But if you succeed, then it is a good thing. Of course we dont know if it is good or bad until later.

As far as academics, I wouldnt have a clue. I was engineering 3 decades ago when we routinely flunked out half the regular students, with their 1250 average SATs. It does seem quite obvious that the modern GT is easier to navigate. How AA is actually leveraging that to keep SAs on track is beyond me, but what we are doing seems to be working.

It’s not going for broke if you’re pushing for your A recruits in April. If this were November, our numbers were low, and we were still only going after tough recruits, then I could see that being the case, but right now we should absolutely be going for the best possible recruits. Seems to be paying off so far too.

One of our easier majors that appeal to students not interested in engineering:

The bachelor's of science degree in History, Technology, and Society (BS- HTS) is comparable to traditional degrees in history and sociology, but HTS has several attributes that make it unique and give our students an edge over other liberal arts majors.

We have far less commits than most, no?
