There has to be some kind of financial chicanery that would allow a handful of rich tech alums to create a simple company that sells t-shirts online or something, pool together some money as private equity invest it, basically create a perpetual NIL funding machine with cap gains / dividends, and write off NIL as a marketing expenses.

if we are the smartest and the richest we should be able to come up with something.
Yep.

Totally disagree that this isn't good for us. You guys don't think the factories are already getting money in their players' hands? So what, now they can pay them more, great. If we all believe, which I do, that we haven't been playing that game in the past, and now our players can make money, how does that hurt us? We're in the capital of the south. We should be able to leverage this into an advantage.
I hear you but it's not about where we are but who we are. If I'm going to hire an athlete to represent my product, it will be an athlete from a school with a huge fan base and therefore a huge target market. Tech ain't that.

People here are stuck in the 80s. The fact is GT quietly exploded and has more students now than UGA. They have a sidewalk base of old rednecks dying off. To some extent all of college football has that, but I digress.

We have alumni that are more valuable to reach than the dwags have. I don't know how much that will translate to NIL, but I could see major gains over time.

You think women put on make-up because they want to have sex? I think women put on make-up because they want to be attractive.

I bet women in general would prefer to be attractive and not have sex, than be unattractive and have sex. Just the opposite for men.
Women also compete with their female peers so there's that too. It's not so much explicitly sex, but I've never asked or wanted my wife to get implants, but it's always the talk of all the women she works with when and if one of them gets them, so that's proof to your point I would think.

I think this is a very interesting point and given our current situation and how "cool" Atlanta and the urban scene is helps Tech. There are lots of UGAg fans, that's no doubt, but if we can win a few games and be the "cool" team, being in Atlanta helps as opposed to the redneck cowtown doggies.

But how big of fan base does Alabama have. the crappiest NFL game of the week blows college football, and every other sport, out of the water ratings wise every week. As big as college football is here it’s an afterthought everywhere other than Texas and the Midwest. And the allegiances are very tribal. What good would of sponsoring Stafford or Calvin gotten the various brands while still college kids? This really seems like a way for the hot chicks of non revenue sports to put up a less trashy option than only fans to middle age horn dogs.
I mean maybe the local Ford dealership will sponsor the O-line in athens like that Miami guy, but I doubt it.

if it were 1995 would everybody be having these vapors that FSU and Nebraska will never lose again? öööö comes and goes. It ultimately comes down to having one of the top four head coaches or a generational player to win a championship.

This is only going to help the little guys. The factories are already getting their choice of players. Not like this is gonna make them get more of them.
A stud player has a choice:

1. Go to a factory and spend a couple of years behind the starter.
2. Go to a non-factory and and start right away.

I guarentee you the money will go to the payers with the name recognition, and that;s the guy starting. So the stud payer can get paid two years or four years. What do you think most of them will choose?

They all think they will be the freshman starter at Bama making bank.

Plus I think you underestimate how high the baseline salaries are going to end up at the big boys.

The wild card will be the transfer portal. It's not going to just be guys buried on the depth chart moving to lesser teams, it's going to be stars from lesser teams trying to move to the big boys to make bank.

This is a problem - the best teams are already way ahead of the other teams with regards to better players and now it will get worse. How do you compete in recruiting against bama telling the #1 qb that if he comes to bama then he can expect $1mm in endorsements before he even plays.

The same way you compete against bama telling the #1 QB that if he comes to Bama he's guaranteed to win at least one title, play against NFL prospects on a daily basis, and spend three years in a development system that rivals those of NFL franchises.

That way is....you don't. Bama and a handful of other monster programs were already getting their pick of the top recruits, and they'll continue to do so now.

You make a good point - you were already beat and can't compete so what's the difference. I guess I was hoping some things could be done to level the playing field somewhat by limiting the resources the big schools have for recruiting and possibly some other steps so these schools didn't get all the players. I really woud like to see the NCAA get back to like the old days where upsets from the bottom teams of upper teams were possible ie GT 3-3 vs Nothre Dame. Basketball because there are limited number of players is more even between top and bottom.

It may simply be impossible as you say.

You don't need the 1 guy making a million. You need the 20 guys sitting on the bench making zero.
