Does anyone have any insight on how our RB rotations will look for 2009. I imagine Dwyer (B-back) and Roddy (A-back) are locked in. Where do Anthony Allen and Lucas Cox fit in? Does Dwyer get reps at A-back now that Cox, Watson, and Allen can play B-back?

I don't think it's even guessable until some of the real spring practice gets going. I tell you what, if we can just start shifting our RBs around, put in fresh guys in the fourth who play it just as well as the starters, whew it'll be great.

ABack #1- Jones/Wright/Cox
Aback #2- Allen/Peoples/O. Smith
Bback- Dwyer/Allen/Watson/Cox/Kelly

I think t it is COMPLETELY interchangeable with most of these parts.

From what I have heard from some players, Roddy may not even be the best A-back we have. Anthony Allen is rumored to be as good or better than Dwyer. Dwyer, Allen, Roddy, Cox, Kelley, Peeples, Watson, Drummond...scary!!!

I don't think we'll see Cox at B-back anymore.

I think it'll be: DWYER, WATSON, KELLY

I think it will be hard to keep wright off the field also. That kid was a devastating blocker at the end of the season and has blazing speed. Allen will also play B-back in my opinion as well.

That's probably true, we really only used them there because we didn't have another powerful runner. I can see him doing a good job as a blocker when we pass out of the option, or just in general.

We could have five Herschel Walkers and not get any better results without an O-line.

This is true, but now that we will probably won't have to use players recruited for other positions on the O line it should be better (it can't get that much worse I don't think/hope)

You guys are nuts if you think we'll see Cox out of the lineup. CPJ will find a way to get that kid in the lineup. Major gamer. I do agree it will be at B-back, if the new guys pick up the position AND CAN BLOCK as well as Cox. Many, many of Dwyer and Jones longest runs were because Cox dished the play side LB. Not to mention, he's a great change of pace back to hand the ball to from time to time, AND.. he's got great hands.

That guy will not be below second string at whatever position he plays.

Okay...now we're being silly. We're ready to replace two of the most productive players b/c of RUMORS?! If Roddy wasn't the best A-back we had, PJ wouldn't have played him. NO OTHER A-BACK REDSHIRTED, so what would they have been saved for?! Dwyer is the ACC POY...enough said! Let's hope these YOUNG players (both are only 19) remain healthy and continue to develop. We'll have a very good rotation, but these guys will anchor it.

No one meant that, just that he might not play B-back as much as he did. Of course he did a much better job at A-back. He was the starter for it and it is where we will see him next year. The only thing is he won't be both the A-back starter and B-back 2nd string anymore.

Calm down man. No one is getting replaced. I will still say that Roddy might not be the best A-back on our team...Allen transferred from Louisville and had to sit because of the transfer, not because he got beat out. Dwyer is amazing, I am a huge fan and will continue to think he is the best we have, but a player friend of mine who attends every practice aid that Allen is going to be a force next year. Our depth is enviable.

Anthony will make a case to start. He won't settle for being a back up.

The spring will be very interesting, a lot of competition here now.

There is NO WAY in hell Allen wont start at a RB position.

I guess most of you were not paying attention to practices/scrimmages last spring ??

My guess:

B-back: Dwyer
A-back: Roddy
A-back: Allen

B-back subs: I think the coaches hope Watson steps up and takes hold of #2 B-back. If not, I think Allen and Cox will split the majority of the meaningful PT.

A-back subs: Cox will sub for Allen. Peoples and Wright sub for Roddy. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dwyer get some A-back reps, especially if he gets banged up early in the season.

This is all just my humble opinion though.

Fact: If our O-line improves at all...we will be nasty.

One of AA or JD will be an A-back. Those two will have to be on the field at the same time. If I had to guess, I'd say AA will play B-back and JD will move to A-back... if he can block. AA looks like a tougher inside runner than JD. RJ will be the other starter at A-back.

I'd look for Cox and Peeples to be second string at A-back, and Watson to be 2nd string at B-back. I'd expect all new RB's to RS this fall. This is a good place to be in.

I agree somewhat.

I think every 3/4 downs you'll see Allen, Dwyer, and Jones out there. They will ust be too good for anybody else to get lots of playing time.

The only time they will come out is if they need some wind or we are up big.

There will be a lot more subbing this season, we will spread the carries around. Too much depth not to exploit the fresh legs.

Jones, Allen, and Dwyer are the front runners to start. It will have to be earned though, this is the difference in the new regime, they aren't just handing positions out on paper, they gotta win it on the field.

Richard will earn some PT at B Back, he is our future at B Back. Big sets could see Watson, Dwyer, and Allen all out there together.
