Which is worse, Auburn's calamity, Tennessee's stupidity, or Texas Tech's consideration of firing Leach?

1) Texas Tech if they follow through with it. I didn't think Auburn could be touched, but this would be extremely stupid.

2) Auburn - they are idiots.

3) Tenn - not necessarily for getting rid of Fulmer, but his replacement is a laughing stock.

Never ,never bet vs Stupidity .
No one ever went broke with those odds .

Close call but I'm going with Tennessee by a nose.

I just don't get the Leach situation in TT Town. The ignorant bastids on drugs over there want to fire the guy, that's their problem. I personally think he belongs with that program. His leaving whether of his own volition or theirs would be a mistake.

Awbun needs to do some serious housecleaning. The ignorant in-house politics from their good ole boy posse is neanderthal. An embarrasssment to the State of Alabama and the South. Embarrassing I say! Not that Tooberville was really what his PR team cracked him up to be. They hated him at Ole Miss because "he didn't know how to coach football." Wonder what they were getting at?

UT has taken the cake however, hands down. Wot the hell was the ghost of Johnny Majors (still kicking) thinking when they fired Phil to hire this clown? Absolutely the worst college football hire in 40 years. Won't work. UT never sanctioned it. The man is a boil on Smokie's arse before HE"S EVEN DONE ANYTHING!!! HEY, LANE! This is the SEC. This isn't your stripper girlfriend's shorts. Not that easy. I'll be surprised if he lasts a whole season.

Stupid People.....

Carnac said that after he put a card to his head and stated outloud, "GTKyle".

This post is for anyone who is old enough to get a Johnny Carson reference.

I saw the thread title and thought I was being paged. Never mind. :o

I'm not familiar with the TT situation but I made those comments about Auburn and TN when they happened.

Holy cow did they blow it in West Texas. However don't be surprised to see more schools try to hold the line.

How in the ell is Texas Tech gonna compete with Texas and Oklahoma and Texas A&M and Okie State for that matter without a superior coach with a gimmick offense? Methinks they are in trouble.

IIUC, the guarantee now is $1.6 million. The future guarantee is 12% of 12.X million which my wild math guess says is less than $1.6 million. (I think it's 1.5).
The buyout is 1.5 million. Does any coach have a buyout as big as the guarantee? And IMHO Leach is way beyond average and they are treating him like they are only keeping him around to be charitable.

The salary is fair. And more ADs should insist on bigger buyouts and smaller guarantees. But to box Leach into a corner with a contract way, way off of current standards is bizzare.

I didn't think anyone could top the Chizik catastrophie but I think this might do it. Kiffen isn't in the same ballpark as those two because IMHO OC/DC are underrated and HC is overrated. Granted I think Chizik is at least trying to assemble a good staff. Good luck to both Tenn and Auburn next year against Georgie.

TT needs Grobe or a Grobe clone. Needs to redshirt everyone and be playing three star men where Texas and Oklahoma will be fielding more than a few five star "boys".

Or get the best PJ disciple. Num at Navy hasn't proven he can develop the players to me. He does appear to be capable of calling the plays and making the adjustments but it is early for him. Isn't there a team in Cali playing PJs O?

dude, i opened this thread expecting some advice for stupid people or something, so i checked

If Texas Tech fires Leach how many minutes before their football program gets taken back by the desert?

If anyone from Texas Tech has any sense, which is very doubtful, then they'll fire the AD. ASAP.

That would be Cal Poly, but Army just hired their coach away. Rich Ellerson is his name and he was the DC at Hawaii when CPJ was the OC there IIRC.

HI-OOO!

I think there's a lot of dumb politics and money tied up with the Texas Tech situation. It sounds like the dumb things that coaches do between Saturdays is causing this.

I'd say Auburn is dumber, only because they've knocked their program back years. Kiffin won't last at Tenn, but no matter what Auburn does, Alabama is poised to own them for the next few years. I can't see how firing a guy who went 13-0, and beat Bama six years straight is a good idea. Put in context it would be like us firing Dodd after the Theron Sapp game, or the mutts firing Richt this season. I may despise that self-righteous assclown, but I'll admit that firing him this year would have been monumentally dumb. Which I'd almost expect.

It's a close call...I think Tenn right now is winning the dumb race, but TT is close behind and the firing of Leach will have them winning. TT was a non-existant program that didin't matter to anyone...Leach put them on a national relevance level. If they fire him, they'll sink back into the irrelant abyss that was TT football...Tenn and Auburn will always be big programs. TT looks like they're trying to shoot themselves down before they ever really get going...

Some programs get mired in the muck and it takes years to recover. It seems some can change coaches and not miss a lick but others suffer for a while. Time will tell if UT, AU, or TT fall into that trap. Some great programs come to mind:

UCLA
Both Iowas
Duke
GT post Dodd
Texas pre Brown
OU pre Stoops
USC pre Carroll
UNC post Brown
UM pre Shannon
Nebraska post Osborne
UGAg between VD & MR

We could go on and on.

Good God, just keep Leach out of the ACC...I'd hate to face that offense every year especially if he eventually goes to UM w all that speed....scary!!!
