Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin and his staff made an unforgettable impression on some of the Southeast’s top college prospects on Saturday.

Douglass defensive lineman Garrison Smith said the lights in the room dimmed. “This one coach stayed behind and walked to the side of the room. Then he kept slamming the [side] doors, as if the other assistant coaches were trying to break it down. It was like an angry dog or some wild animals were on the other side.”

After a few moments, Smith said the doors swung open and the Tennessee assistants ran into the room. “By now, three or four coaches had their shirts ripped off.” Smith said around 10 Tennessee players, including All-America defensive back Eric Berry of Atlanta and quarterback Jonathan Crompton, ran down from behind the recruits to meet the coaches on the floor. “Eric and the rest of the players were chanting ‘U-T, wild boys … U-T, wild boys … U-T wild boys.’” This time, prospects left their seats and joined the celebration. “We were all jumping up and down together, it was cool,” McCoy said.

Sounds like another gimmick to grab some attention. This tool is in way over his head.

Wow, sounds like they're taking the homo-erotic approach at UT, heavy on the homo. Is it possible that Kiffin will be the biggest train-wreck of a HC ever? I'm sure there were a few high school kids impressed with these antics, but when it's all said and done, how many will really want to play in Knoxville because of the bizaro sideshow that is the coaching staff?

Apparently it works at USCw; it's where the idea came from.

Yeah, the buttoned-down shirt stuff might work if you are recruiting a middle-aged man (the predominant species on this board :laugher:), but high school kids eat this kind of stuff up.

I actually look for Kiffin and Tennessee to revolutionize the way SEC football is run. Not played necessarily, but run.

Seems extremely Orgeron-esque, especially with him on the staff and all. I'm expecting similar results in the next few years for UT.

Obviously it worked so however gay it may seem, it made an impression. But if Kiffin cannot back it up on the field, he's going to be in deep ****.

I can't say I understand it, but hey, if it works, it works. That's one of wierdest things I've heard about recruiting. I don't think Kiffin will last long enough at UT to matter, but who knows?

Sounds like a very wholesome atmosphere for these young S/As.

Let the disciplinary problems begin!

I'm not sure the parents of the recruits will think much of this. Who wants their kid going to participate in this nonsense? Maybe UT is going after the orphan student athlete.

Do you guys think PJ rips his shirt off and jumps up yelling "GT WILD BOYS!" when he recruits players?

Only when he goes to one of the AUBURN camps. then he bitch slaps one of the megaphone cheerleader guys and yells real loud "NOW THAT is a gimmick offense" come to Tech to see the real thing in action...

but in the grand scheme of the junior day weekend, this is all that matters ....

"They [Tennessee] definitely moved up on my list.”

Deja' vu moment! Didn't Beej67 post something like this on Auburn's board after Chizik was hired?

LOL - This recruiting method is preposterous.

Once that Louisiana Coon Hound, or whatever he calls himself, Orgeron starts making decisions, it is not good. See: Ole Miss
