This Game Saved Tech Sports (At Least For Me)

Beating UNC is lifetime special? They were exposed today. It is nice to beat a ranked team, I will give you that, but lifetime special?

I hope to God that we get to a point where beating the tallest little person in the coastal is not considered a life defining moment.

Hit me back if we beat UGA next week, that would be lifetime special.

Fr, this isn’t even close to topping FSU (both times), UGA (all 3 times), MSU, Clemson with Calvin, etc. since I’ve been alive.

Can’t you idiots just enjoy a win?

I do enjoy the win but it is UNC, not something I'll tell the grandkids about or even remember in a year or two. If this is a lifetime special and pinnacle win for GT, then just damn what ever floats your boat.

If you can't see that the quality of that UNC team is a facade and they benefit from a weak schedule and being in the coastal, then whatever.

But congrats to the jackets for pulling it off when 80% of their own fans didn't think they could do it.

Well I certainly remember last years win against North Carolina in the dome. It could be because there haven’t been a lot of others since then. I will also remember this one.

In terms of wins and accomplishments, obviously this season and team aren't going down in the annals of Tech history.

But look at the situation: coach switch midseason two QBs going down, program at an all-time low after 3.5 years of "juice". Getting four wins under Key, two of them on the road against ranked teams as 20+ point underdogs, is something special.

That's one of the great things about college football. Yes, of course, the biggest thing is titles. But any game can be special and make you proud when the players are out there representing our school. I've rooted as hard for this team as I have for any Tech team, and I've wanted those wins with all my heart.

That means something, and I will definitely remember it. I don't really understand any Tech fan who can look at this team and say they're not proud of them.

I'm not sure what it means in the big scheme of things but it sure feels GREAT for a little while.

This is a much more eloquent way to say what I meant.

And I will point out that the win is the 2nd largest comeback win in school history.

I had no idea that last night was the second-biggest comeback in Tech history. That makes it even better. Thank you for pointing that out.

Honestly I think the Pitt win was bigger. Pitt was ranked at the time and defending ACC champs. What was our score in our prior 4 P5 games, like 150-6 or something stupid. That win was shocking. Against UNC, we beat a really good UNC team last year so I guess they were better but just wasn't as impressive to me as beating Pitt was.

UNC has won 5 games by 3 points or less, so they have been enjoying a very fortunate season, and were ripe for a letdown. They could easily be 6-5 this year, and may well lose again to NCS this week. Clemson will probably embarrass them in the ACCCG. It's still a great road win for Tech against a quality opponent, but the Tar Heels were over-rated again.

I was happy the other night. Still am.

However, I was there when we beat a top 10 ND w/o throwing a pass, and I watched us beat a #1 UVA in Hooville, and I was there at the end of that season in Orlando the day we beat the crap out of Nebraska. Those were all memorable wins. This one was real nice, though.

In 3 1/3 years we didn’t beat a team who finished with a winning record. Since we removed the öööö stain from our program, we have done it 3 times (out of 4 or 5 opportunities). We will have to figure out how to beat the bad teams, but that is easier than figuring out how to beat the good teams.
