Well, he is supposed to on. But they are talking NBA right now.
 
Great interview so far. Too much info to summarize.
 
Wow, he took his first JUCO football coaching job to avoid getting stuck being the high school basketball coach, because basketball coaches get fired so often in North Carolina. What a crazy story.
 
I can try to summarize some of these stories, but to convey them in any detail would require some serious typing / shorthand skills. It's mostly just PJ talking.

Crazy one:

Erk Russel was ready to take the HC job at Georgia, but Georgia wanted a 4 year commitment from Erk, so Erk told them no. If Erk had said yes, PJ would have been Georgia's OC.

Says the media was the worst at Hawaii of all the places he's been, because University of Hawaii football is pretty much the only sport in the state, so there's nothing else for them to scrutinize.
 
Most miserable night he's ever spent was after losing the Army Navy game as a Navy assistant.

Also, he's downplaying the UGA/GT game a bit.


He says he sells our recruits on the idea that choosing a school is a 40 year decision, not a 4 year decision, also sells Atlanta.
 
I remember hearing Erk say that VD offered him the UGAy job and then renegged and Erk was fuming. Even years later.
 
"Do you ever watch the tape of the Georgia game? High five your assistant coaches?"

"No, we played very poorly in that game. Left a lot on the field on offense, and played probably our worst game of the year on defense."


"We did not get a ring for beating Georgia" ... explains the whole ring thing... ...old info for us on Stingtalk...
 
"We practiced the same way for LSU as we did for Georgia."

"I did a poor job preparing us for that game."

"The game was over in the 2nd quarter because of special teams."


Sounds like they're going to continue the interview into the 9 oclock hour for a bit because it's running so long.
 
CPJ also said we played our worst defensive game against UGA.

They played the clip at halftime vs Miss St where PJ ripped into Wolverton about how we weren't playing well.
 
Encouraged this spring with Jaybo and Tevin.


Says our deepest spot this year is B Back. Jon, Anthony, Watson, Preston Lines.

Sounds like Anthony Allen will play some at A back, some at B back.

Trying to work hard on passing game this spring.

Perfect scenario - rush for 350 throw for 180. Says balance is over rated. "Show me a good team that's balanced. All good teams have tendencies."

Never scripted a set of plays.


Real tight with Mike Smith at the Falcons. PJ was going to hire Mike as the D Coordinator at Navy.


Brad Jefferson had a good spring. Ced had a good spring too. "Good nucleus to rally around" on defense.
