Someone needs to ask what the AA is doing about the swine flu.
 
This is by no means comprehensive; this is just stuff I remembered from the show:

PJ started by saying that it was a “strange camp” because it was longer than usual and that the team is ready to play someone else.

I was distracted by something here but I THINK he said that all the frosh o-lineman will redshirt. (CORRECT ME IF I’M WRONG.)

Says we have 3-4 quality guys at B back who are ready to play.

Talked about the presentation coaching staff made to ACC refs about cut blocking/chop blocking. Says he thinks other coaches in ACC have been complaining about it. Says he showed the ACC film of when TECH was chop bocked by some of the complaining coaches’ teams and it was not called. Said presentation went well. He said classy things about officials overall.

JD’s hip flexor is no big deal and he’s ready to go.

What is the status on backup QBs?
TW will be 2nd string, Quentin Sims might be the best runner and the smoothest on the option *including Josh* and he thinks they’re fine and way better off on backup QBs than last year. Tevin is more than capable of coming in and running the show.

5-6 guys to choose from on kick returns
Tarrant to return punts.
Anderson or Poole to punt.
Blair to kick and kick only.

Says he is really excited about frosh LB Julian Burnette. Says he is a buzzsaw built like a fire hydrant.

Someone asks why he runs offense from under center instead of from shotgun. Says he prefers under center to shotgun for his O because it “hits harder” and is harder for D to find the ball. Shotgun would have the advantage of more time to pass the ball. Says he does it the way he does it bc it has worked for 26 years.

Wow. I love our coach. He just talked about how the star-ranking system is complete BS.
 
Says he is looking for Defense to play better this year than last; they need to for the team to accomplish what they want to.

Caller complained about recruting too much in GA and was worried about depth at DT. PJ said depth was fine at DT. PJ said they would recruit the best players etc. Says we can win the league with the best players in Atlanta.

I know you'll all like this part: Said star rankings are “crap” and the guys who assign stars “don’t have a clue.” Mentioned how 6 of the top 10 QBs according to scout services one year ended up transferring bc they couldn’t beat out the other QBs on the team. Said that it’s primarily based on which schools recruit them. Example: A kid who was recruited by Alabama, Florida etc signs with Tech and drops 50 spots in the recruiting rankings etc.

Says we are much better this year than a year ago, but says that some other teams will be better too and that we’ll still have to stay healthy etc. Expectation level has risen dramatically for alumni and fans and students etc, and he thinks that’s a great thing.

(Man, these segments are getting shorter.)
