Yesterday, my wife was offered some Georgia Tech football tickets by one of her colleagues who went to Clemson. Apparently, this colleague and her husband (who is a UGAg fan) bought 2 Georgia Tech season tickets in order to attend both the Clemson and UGAg games in Atlanta. They are now trying to pawn off the rest of their season tickets.

I was truly disheartened to hear this. Does anyone else have first-hand knowledge of this practice? If this is happening a lot, that could explain our bump in season ticket sales this year. I was hopeful the bump would mean more white and gold in BDS, but it may not. Any thoughts?

Yeah, it really sucks in this revenue-starved environment when we've gotten to the point of making opponents buy full seaon tickets (instead of single-game or mini-packs) to get a ticket to see their own team.

This is progress.

It's been happening to some degree for years. But DBraineless made it easy with the 3 game packages (UGAy game included). DRad has made it alot harder but if some dog fan wants to be a GT season ticket holder then we will sell them.

So about how much money did they spend to get them?

Not sure...I don't know where the seats are, etc. I just wish more GT fans would step up to the plate, get season tix, and come to the games. Nothing worse than seeing almost a third of our stadium filled with Orange, Red, or Garnett (last year vs. FSU).

A Georgie friend of mine bought season tickets last year to Arizona State University football games so he could go watch the Pups there... for like $95

then he sold them back to someone for $45 without the Georgie game

thats like a bartab

Actually, there are single game tickets being sold by GTAA for every game but ugag, so only ugaggers are buying our season tickets to get in their game.

So BDS holds 55K and GT has sold 25K season tix for the upcoming season.

How many tix go to the following:

Students
Visiting team
Family
Media
left open for single-game sells
etc...

What I'm getting at is how many season tix are available for sale.

This may have actually been in a recent ST thread, but I'm throwing out the 'too lazy to look it up' card.

My dad is a UGA fan and bought two season tickets "for me" but i know what his real purpose was

Around 9000 for students, and actually the 7000 or so student season tickets sold out! Great for the student body! Though, the 2000 extra free student tickets didn't sell out yet for JSU or Clemson, which is strange. We find around 7000 students to pay for tickets, but there aren't 2000 students wanting tickets for free yet!

If they are that desperate to see one game, I say take the money and run. Can't run a athletics department without money. Just tell them, "thanks for supporting the GT football team."

Considering ugaggers live here, they are more likely to unload the non-ugag game tickets to Tech people hopefully.

Yeah, but at least at that point they've already the AA already has their money. Thanks, Mutts.

That's not the only problem, the Seminole Booster department is reporting a 13-percent drop in season ticket sales so far this year ... The Boilermakers are reporting a staggering 17-percent decline while the Buckeyes and Volunteers are experiencing drops of only 1-3 points. ... San Diego Chargers and the Jacksonville Jaguars are among the teams who are in jeopardy of having their home games blacked out because of empty stadiums.

"Last year, I bought Arizona State season tickets,” said Josh Moore, an attorney and Bulldog fan in Atlanta. "I’ve been a Georgia Tech season-ticket holder.”

So the 7K student season tix would be in addition to the 25K regular fan base season tix, bringing total seats sold for season tix to 32K.

Yeah but you don't add them up with regular season tickets. It's still the student section, and the games will have about the same number of students as previous years. Many schools sell their student tickets to their students, we just haven't done that until now.

I'm A-OK with boosting our season ticket sales by forcing Ugaggers to buy season tickets. That's stealing from the badguys as far as I'm concerned.
