Why is Brad Jefferson not making more plays?

Seriously? This totally dumfounds me. I always thought that Jefferson was a baller and not someone who just looked good in a uniform, but he is nowhere to be found in big games. What gives?

Other than Morgan in the Clemson game, nobody has really stood out.

Slow, and cannot get off blocks. He and Sed are getting taken out of plays, pancaked, and missing tackles. Thing is that last year they could almost hide do to our solid push from our front 4.

Hard to make plays when the DTs are being driven back into your face. He has to shed our DT and their lineman and then find the ball and make the tackle. Could you do better?

Our DT's are quite possibly the worst I have seen at this level in a while. Even Duke's DT last year were better.

Brad Jefferson was GHSA A 110 meter hurdles champion as senior in high school. He was not slow.
Don't care how fast he was in high school or what his 40 time is. When he steps on the field in pads, he is slow.

GTman has it right. Unfortunately, just as is the case with the G-C-G problem, there's no quick fix.

Maybe our GCG are also weak and therefore the two are holding their own in practice and not improving.

So, then back to the orignal question. Why isn't he making plays?

Why aren't any of our LBs making plays? There's something wrong with the scheme or they are getting washed away by our DLine being blocked into them. I have noted that the OLBs seem to get sucked into the middle/mass and lose contain and thats just poor assignment/technique.

Seriously, if we can't find competent DLinemen to put on the field, we would be better off running a version of the 3-4-4 with another LB or DB. I'd rather have the other team trying to run the ball on us than shredding us with deep passes and 80% completion rates.

There's at least three guys on our starting lines (OL and DL combined) that shouldn't be that aren't D-I athletes.

Agreed on that Knox. I look at our DL and most wouldn't start for Jax State or even Garner Webb.
