The Rope-a-Dope defense was a work of pure genius. I will admit I didn't recognize it until well into the second half, but allowing the Florida State offense to tire themselves out in the first half was the work of a true tactician.

Very impressive, sir.

LOL

Scarily enough, that concept might actually of worked. I mean it should never be used by a drunk hobo, but hell it might be why we won.

2 weeks in a row he goes for the crazy strategy, im quite fond of the "let them get down to the 1, and then force a fumble defense."

That was the plan ... ;)

i know you are trying to be funny, but when you go from giving up a **** ton of points in the first half to not giving up but 9 in the second, that shows COACHING

he corrected the players that were getting out of position and we kept them out of the endzone.

thats what coaching is and Wommack did a good job of it. Its not his fault we lack depth and talent on the DL and in the D-backfield

It's not like Wommack can suit up and show them how to play defense, that would be hilarious though. Alone our defensive front won us games last year, but those guys are gone and now our secondary is the backbone. It's just something they will have to learn I guess.

Did you watch the game? I saw a lot of wide open receivers drop the ball or hit each other in second half.

that happened ONCE, you guys act like it happened every play. yes, i watched the game, twice

we were getting significantly more pressure on Ponder in the 2nd half. watch it again

Not that the 15 play, 9:00 drive in the 3rd Q had anything to do with it. They can't score if they're not on the field.

The defense did just enough in the 2nd half (and for that, I'm grateful) but they weren't much better than the 1st.

see, people say this, but it makes no sense
the DEFENSE still has to stop the other offense. our D benefitted from getting rest between series, but that doesnt mean they dont STILL have to play defense against FSU. if FSU drives down the field like in the first half, the D is just as tired as ever

the O helps get the D breaks by holding the ball, it does not make playing defense somehow magically easier beyond that one benefit.

How on earth did you watch that twice??
After Nesbitt fumbled to start the second half I was near alcohol poisoning, I don't even know how we won pretty sure I blacked out actually.

I think the post questioned the secondary being the backbone. However as bad as they are at times, the secondary is clearly the backbone.

The difference in the second half was not just the actual sacks, but that we actually hit Ponder in the 2nd half. Up till then it was like a passing drill. The secondary still seemed to leave guys open, but we made Ponder work for it and he couldn't get it done under tougher conditions.

The second half D was great, but i prefer both halves. bring on the hokies, btw i still can't find a castrated turkey. is that a jewish thing?

If we play D like we did in the second half we have a much better shot at winning the remainder of the games on our schedule than with the 1st half defense.
