I was just reading through a few GT blogs and all of them are thinking it's going to be Giff because apparently the players were rooting for Giff to be the next DC ever since Wommack was fired. I will be fine with this if we find out that Groh didn't want the position. Otherwise, I won't be too stoked.

I'm going on about 40 straight hours of meetings. Usually my sarcasm meter is set to 'maximum', but I missed it. I'm a little embarrassed. :o

I would hate to think that CPJ is the kind of guy that hires a coach because the PLAYERS loved him. If CPJ thinks that Giff is the way to go, great. Otherwise don't cave into the current set of students because they think Giff is a swell guy.

For everybody else about this impending “announcement” at Tech, it’s my understanding that there’s a scheduled team meeting at 5 p.m. but it has nothing — I repeat, nothing — to do with the coaching search. Two people have told me this. So either they’re lying or they haven’t been told anything either. But I’ve been told a few times today by people over there that nothing is going on related to the DC search.

One thing that is taking me away from a Giff hire.......... They are being very tight lipped about who it is. If it were Giff I would bet that there would be some leaks because it's someone in-house and that the players are excited for.

The fact that they want to tell the players first and maybe "explain" the hire might mean it's someone from the outside. Pure speculation......
 
We always have a meeting at the beginning of the year to set the off-season goals, weight lifting, spring practice, and study hall schedules, etc. The team was informed by email yesterday at 3:30pm by our Director of Football Ops of the mandatory team meeting today at 5:00.

Gotta love how the douche hedged his bets and threw two 'anonymous' sources under the bus.

If they are right he looks brilliant for his connections and telling everyone it's not a DC announcement. If he is not right and they announce, he prematurely threw them under the bus by saying they don't know jack-crap.

What a tool.
 
Here's my main problem with Giff: Let's say Giff doesn't do well as a DC, what would you do? He is a great recruiter, so do you demote him? I don't think a DC would accept being demoted, so the only option would be to fire him. At the same time, I think it would be difficult for CPJ to fire him because he is such a great recruiter. So if he doesn't succeed at DC he would be a lot like Hewitt. A great recruiter, but not a great coach. It's a catch 22. If he turns out to be a great DC, we won't even be in that predicament. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Oh well, either way I bleed old gold and white. Go Jackets!
 
Circumstantial Evidence

If the announcement is for the new DC, then it is not Giff. If it were Giff, there would be no reason to wait until 5P to announce it. The same holds true for Groh.

In fact, there would have been no reason to contact Groh, if Giff was a valid choice at the start.

Since the Air Force Academy athletics is having an announcement at 5P, it seems reasonable that we would wait until after their announcement.

If the 5P time is to announce the new DC, then it seems most reasonable that it would be the Air Force's DC, unless another school is making an announcement at this same time.

Just to add on, what Schultz said is the same thing that is being floated on the Hive insiders board.
