I wouldn't be surprised if dem was just out of the loop when it came to the hiring of CPJ. We had a very quick and clandestine process. At one point, he said something like "smokescreen in effect" so perhaps there were just some misdirection (ironic we'd do that before hiring CPJ).

I dunno, he doesn't have to prove anything to me. If there is one poster on here I would believe, it's him. Other than him and a few others, it's just a bunch of dudes like myself talking out of their asses.

TheJacket IIRC, oddly enough. I'm sure that post was overflowing with TIC, probably a sardonic jab at the originator of a similar outburst earlier in the season.
The guy who said after the OB that he was going to go become a fan of a real team? Forget who said it now but I'm pretty sure I remember The Jacket being none too pleased.

Yeah, the incident is pretty vague in my mind too, but I do know that TheJacket basically said "Bye, asshole".

There have been times that I have thought that Dem might be Drad. From time to time when I have spoken to him and he (Drad) has had the same detailed comment I have read from Dem, I've considered the possibility (or, at least, that DRad purposesly allows the plant of insider info. on the most rational board). Short of calling the AA and as far as a Board goes, Dem is a poster that I want to hear / read. Don't shoot ourselves in the foot by alienating a good source. If you don't buy his posts, ignore them. Then, the rest of us can get on quicker than earlier today ;-).

I renounce my earlier questioning of demjackets's credibility. I am relatively new here.

Ok folks, all I had knowledge of was that it appeared that a DC had been selected, chosen, whatever you want to call it. The person would not tell me the name of the DC. I got this from someone who has always provided reliable information and is in a position to know.

Looking at the other boards, I see other "in the know" folks with access to inside info were hinting at or saying the same thing, including Dems on this very thread. I wouldn't think that everyone has the same source, so you have to think something was going on.

I didn't have any info that said when this would happen, only that a DC had been selected. I assumed, like many of you would, that it wouldn't take long for the info to come out.

I still don't have any reason to believe what I am being told isn't true. It might just be taking a while to work out contracts or logistics, or whatever.

Once there is an official announcement, I anticipate not being able to find out for 2 to 3 hours after the fact, because StingTalk will be DOWN.

Haha, I made the non-idiot cut.

I should put that on my business card. PE, LEED AP, BOR-NI

I don't mind Demjackets posting. I like reading his posts. But I highly suspect I could create an alias, and using nothing more than info I pick up on Stingtalk and in other public media channels I could fake being an "insider" pretty damn good. And if I did so, my posts would sound about like his.

The thing that gives me pause, is if I was faking it like that, I probably wouldn't have started or supported this thread. Only an idiot would post this thread if they were a faker, because it puts you on the hook.

It's okay by me. I still think you're a pretty cool guy. Keep posting that insider info and remember, important people have thick skins (or punch the guy in the face).

Perhaps the team meeting was called because CPJ had a verbal commitment but then backed our or delayed the commitment this afternoon. :ugh:

The most likely explanation for todays events is that a selection has been made but the deal didn't get inked in time. I am not sure how many of you have been part of any kind of contract negotiation, but sometimes things get hairy over what seem like silly terms. However, everyone has a reason for holding out when they feel strongly about a term. Therefore, it could have just taken longer than expected to ink the deal.

I for one am very happy that we don't have 20 names being thrown around with everyone of them giving us the Heisman (as in the stiff arm that women give at bars) like UGA. When a deal is done, we will all find out. I want to know as badly as anyone because I really think that defense is the difference between us winning a NC in the next 3 years and not. I am not as worried about offense b/c I think that as we get the line and blocking assignments worked out, the rest will fall into place.

Anyway - Give everyone a break. I don't sense that any of the people under fire right now post things here to mislead, but rather to try to give information that they have. Whether it always ends up being perfect info or not is not necessarily their fault.

Go Jackets!!

Is it possible that if it is Groh that UVA has some say in the negotiating of the contract to ensure Groh doesn't go out an get paid $10/year and stick UVA with the bill. Maybe there is some negotiating having to go on between schools in order to iron out salary issues. I haven't read all 32 pages of this thread so this may have been mentioned - I wish I had a job where I could ST all day.

This is implied in the clause that requires him to use best efforts to find another position. That clause also means that he is expected to get paid the market rate for the position. If anyone were to pay him much less than they would have paid someone else, UVA would simply sue Groh for the difference. They may not win, but it would cost him enough defending it that it wouldn't matter.

For future reference:
If you come clean and tell as much as possible about your source and your knowledge of the situation before 30,000+ views and 8 pages of posts, you may not lose as much credibility.

Adding clarity after your OP is determined to be bs doesn't really do much.

That being said, it does take some level of decency to come out and fess up, if that's indeed what you did.

I have always appreciated Dems posts except when he called JD's heart into question after the Miami game. If that was true, it should've stayed in the locker room. Dems, keep posting!

It seems to me when gt23eric says he knows something, he is generally right.

I always tell everybody my sources, which are generally friends of friends of high ups.
