Sword Fight

If the Tech Police would worry less about writing those stupid parking tickets and become more of a force on campus for the safety of the students stuff like this would not happen. All they are doing is trying like hell to meet their quoto's for tickets each month to pay their wages.
GTPD doesn't write parking tickets...

I read about this at work today. The first thing I realized was that if I'd seen a guy walking around campus carrying a sheathed sword, I probably wouldn't have thought anything of it. My guess is many of you wouldn't have either :ugh:

Huh?

You think the GT cops should be on sword patrol?

Dude, I could have walked into any building on campus with a katana and stabbed whoever I wanted in college. They're not exactly hard to hide, in a campus full of backpack wielding, trench coat wearing nerds.

To the Georgia Tech campus community:

Earlier this afternoon an unfortunate incident occurred on campus that concerns us all. A post-doctoral research fellow in the School
of Aerospace Engineering was injured by an assailant who attacked him with a sword. The assailant was quickly subdued by Georgia Tech
police officers, one of whom was injured during the arrest.

Our immediate concern is for the victims who were transported to Grady Hospital where they are reported to be in stable condition. The
victim’s name will be released after relatives are notified. The injured Georgia Tech police officer was Robert J. Turner, 29, of Griffin, Ga. He is expected to return to duty soon.

The alleged assailant, Kshitij Shrotri, is being held in the Fulton County Jail. He has been charged with aggravated assault. Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation. Shrotri received
his PhD in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech in 2008 and has not been affiliated with the Institute since then.

The rapid resolution of the incident preempted use of our emergency notification system, which is reserved for situations requiring members of the campus community to take immediate action.

The Georgia Tech Police Department investigation is on-going.

And this is why people make fun of GT kids. Can't beat the stereotype.

WTF who does this?

The man accused of stabbing a research fellow with a samurai sword at Georgia Tech Thursday afternoon is K****ij Shrotri, who got his PhD in aerospace engineering from Tech in 2008, a Tech spokesman said.

Dayum. Where does Tech go to find these crazies? And I'm not talking about Virginia Tech this time around.
