per AJC: significant announcement for GT football

Did we just get the "NCAA is so mad at Auburn and Ohio State that they're going to öööö over <insert team here>"?

This. Is. Bullshit.

Yep. Remember the scapegoat everyone's been on the lookout for? The middle-of-the-pack "example"?

It's us. Awesome.

Is this true:

“It appeared to the committee that the institution attempted to manipulate the information surrounding potential violations involving (the student-athlete) so there would be enough doubt about its validity to justify the decision not to declare him ineligible,” the NCAA said in its report."

Represenatives of the Institution's athletic interests = DEDE?

GOD I hope not

Exactly what I was thinking - we would have had them back by the OB - MAYBE

680 having a field day, Buck creaming his britches on air as expected. They are saying GT should give back Bowl money, of course that is shared by the conf anyway. I really want to see what DRAD has to say, bad timing with our football camp this weekend.

Anybody bombed Dede's facebook page yet?

post screenshots plskthx.

It seems to me like this should be easy to attempt an appeal. I see now why Dems said the team was assembled.

So, let me get this straight. Tech self-reported issues last time, got bitch-slapped worse than almost anyone else and a four year probation and lost a bunch of scholies. So this time, we don't do anything, get bitch-slapped worse than anyone else, and lose a title game?

God damn, I hope our team is good this year, else it's going to be a very dismal season.

This is essentially a more eloquently written version of a teenage girl's diary entry detailing that she thinks one of her friends is talking behind her back.

I think this is going to be the basis for any appeal. If this part gets thrown away, then almost all of the non-Dede related violations are on Hewitt's head, and will save us more money than switching to Geico. In a real sad way, this is almost a good thing.

just so I have this straight, the ncaa investigated, didn't find anything, and took away our championship because they felt embarrassed?

The Dede thing is extremely minor. It is barely even in the report. The key points are regarding the clothes exchange and GT getting in the way.

The key thing here is that DRAD, plain and simple, screwed up. He was told that information about this case must stay between him, the compliance officer, and the GT president. He made the foolish decision to tell CPJ about it. That is grossly incompetent.

I mean, if DRAD would pull this crap over $300 of clothes, what would he do when something real comes down the pipe?

From the NCAA's "we got you here Georgia Tech!!!" report:

"When interviewed by the enforcement staff, student athlete 1 (Bay Bay or MB) did not even know the roomate's last name, which would appear to contradict his answer to the genral counsel's (GT interview of Bay Bay or MB)question that student athlete 1 (Bay Bay or MB) and his cousin's roomate were "friends"."

You have GOT to be kidding me. Kids sometimes don't even go by their real names these days! Everyone's got a nickname on the streets of Atlanta. Jesus God. What a joke.

I checked this morning, ööööthencaa.com is already registered.. so don't even bother.
