Srephen Hill = Calvin Johnson

I hate hearing ESPN comparing Stepen and BayBay to Calvin, I guess they forget Calvin played in a pro style offense.

Yeesh. Hope SH can get to that level, but as of today:

CJ > DT > SH

Reggie Ball never lead anything that resembled a pro style offense. He made Calvin a better receiver by making him go get the ball.

Yeah, but of you listen to certain people they talk like Calvin played for CPJ.

We haven't had a good passing qb since Goose.

11 year drought. :frown:

And what happens during that 11 year drought?

1 win versus Georgia.

Start Vad Lee (at some point) this year. He can throw the ball.

Have you seen Reggie Balls completion stats? They weren't much prettier. Might as well have been playing in an option offense.

“I feel great, especially now that I’m in an offense where I can catch the ball a little bit more,” Hill said. “Catching the ball from Mark Sanchez will be great. I’m going to make sure I get with him as soon as possible.”

Here's a clue: EVERY offense in the NFL throws more than GA Tech throws. No matter who you went with, that would have been the case, Stephen. Come on, man. Oh, and had you caught a few more passes, you may have gotten a few more balls tossed your way.

Can you imagine CJ with man coverage every play but the coach only throws the ball 12 times a game?

CJ would have caught 9 of them. Look at the average yardage difference between Ball and Washington, 20 yards per game on twice the throws. CJ was special and it showed. As much as we bash Washington for his passing, he has a higher completion percentage than Ball. That actually blew me away.

Steven Hill will likely get no more chances in that offense than he did in ours.

CPJ hasn't thrown the ball much at GT, and he goes for it on 4th down more often than most coaches; and for those not paying attention the reason he goes for it so often on 4th down is similar to why he doesn't throw the ball much. I think we would see more passes if guys could catch more consistently, and more 40+ yard field goals if we had guys who could kick one more consistently.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Ball actually got worse during his career. I think he was ACC freshman of the year, IIRC. He had no businesses at QB in any pro style offense.

Georgia likely would have had a NC title in CJ would have gone there.

Yet, Tevin Washington completes passes much more often and for longer yardages. Probably a good reason that Chan was fired, keep passing the ball when you are below 45%.
