Yeah, the kid did a stupid thing. He's a kid for crying out loud. You people are cruel.

I once had to bail off a shopping cart being pulled by a truck. I don't think this is THAT much more stupid, BUT the premeditated nature, the thought that it might work, the idea it would impress recruiters, and the fact he was running AT a moving car (driven by someone with no license) definitely put him up for a Darwin award.
 
If you need to pull this sort of stunt to get noticed, you probably aren't that great.

The sad thing about this situation is that the kid has been out of high school for 1+ years. He probably banked on football as his only way to go to college, and when he didn't get any scholarship offers, felt he needed to do something exceptional (and dangerous) to attract attention from recruiters.

In short, he felt that risking his life was necessary to go to college.

This is America. ANYONE can get a Pell Grant and some student loans....even if they have no plans to pay them back. Get a grip.

That gets to another issue not fit for the football forum: in today's society, if you don't graduate from college, you're considered a failure. That's not true and not a healthy attitude to have about education.
