UNC: Coastal Division Champs?

They were co-champs with us and miami. They would have played in the acccg had they not had a post season ban because of the tie breakers. But they still were divisional champs (co-champs).

shouldnt have gotten themselves banned.. dont hate the players.. hate the game

They were divisional CO-champs, which is not really the same thing as "2012 Coastal Division Champions" by any logical view of things.

I'm pretty sure that we hung 68 on the "2012 ACC Coastal Champs"

They would have been outright champs had they been able to hold Vad to only 7 touchdowns (well Vad and Tev).

This.

They chose to take the ban so ... take it.

It's an embarrassment that they have no many advantages yet all they have to show for it is a questionable claim to a co-division championhip.

Actually, leave the billboard up. They're just as a testament to their inferiority.

"I cheated and ruined the academic reputation of my school and all I got was this lousy billboard."

 You're on a roll this morning.

Would've also accepted "all I got was a co-division championship"

I think it's highly questionable to put up that billboard while serving a post-season ban. But it's just erroneous to not put up Co-Champs. As I understand it, it goes in the ACC records books as Tech, Miami, and UNC all tying as Coastal Co-Champs despite Tech playing in the ACCCG.

Yep, which is fair. I certainly wouldn't argue that we're the champions - it was a 3-way tie. The only way Carolina can claim a championship is with a lot of ifs, ands, and buts - if they weren't on probation, and if Miami weren't on probation, and if things got down to the 3rd or 4th division tiebreaker, then...well, they'd have played in the ACCCG and still been the division co-champ.

That is ridiculous. No way that is a claim they should be allowed to even make. Did they not get beat at home by GT? Did they play in the ACCCG? What bowl did they play in? Oh right the answers are yes, no, and the couch bowl.

Got it. Sounds like a championship season to me.

If football were hockey Tech wins the ACC Coastal.

Good for them and their little poster, but we all know who the best team in the Coastal was this season and it was Georgia Tech.

A wussy school...with a wussy football program...with wussy fans.

GO JACKETS!!

They are as much 2012 Coastal Division champs as we are 2008 Coastal Division champs.

Our alumni club shoud rent out a nearby billboard that says "The real Coastal co-champ hung 68 on your co-champs."
