Teotwawki

well, when the government so heavily subsidizes the entire system, there's no need to keep costs down.

When diploma mills (irresistible force) meets
the crushing student loan/debt fraud, (immovable object).....
...you get the oh-so-predictable "blowback."

Coming to Athens in the very near future.

Up next: The voter demand for "free" college.

When students begin suing their alma mater for bogus diplomas, it wont be long before student-athletes begin suing their former colleges for bogus courses and degrees...with the added threat of said student-athletes exposing ALL the hidden NCAA rule-breaking practices by their Athletics Associations.

Jan Kemp:The Sequel, coming up real soon.

Talking to yourself is pretty neat.

I know it is the wrong forum, but being an old guy, I was able to work a regular, full time job and set aside enough money in a quarter to pay for my classes and books. This was on top of paying rent, having a small efficient car, and buying my Ramen noodles or whatever food I could afford after the bills were paid. I lived cheaply, but I was a kid and knew no different since I was fairly poor growing up anyway. Of course, back before the internet and Mc Mansions and all of that crap, most folks didn't realize they were poor.

I don't think there would be a chance in hell I could do the same today. Too expensive. I agree with lottery funding of education, but I also agree that curbs need to be put on University spending. UGAg got an engineering school. Why? Just öööö because, that's why. Because they can milk money out of kids that just HAVE to go be a mutt. So they make an "easier" engineering school and give out a lesser degree to milk more money out of the system. GT is one of the premier engineering schools in the world. I understand that not all kids can go there, but that is what Georgia Southern and SPSU (my alma mater) are for.

Are you trying to imply that JT will beat out VL this spring? That crazy talk!

Did OP call Yale a diploma mill?

Nope. Didnt call Yale a diploma mill.

By suing Yale, former students and their lawyers are making that statement & case in their lawsuit.

But UGAG certainly is a diploma mill.

How soon before some out-of-work UGAG grad with a General Studies degree and $100,000 in unpayable student loan debt (or a "student-athlete with a "Housing" degree, with with no NFL ticket and no viable employment prospects)......makes the case with a lawyer that their alma mater "ripped them off."

Either the former student or the parents of said student will find lawyers willing to make that case.

Among the legal profession, bankruptcy and student-loan cases are becoming THE new growth industry.

Afterall, nationwide, student-loan debt is now in excess of $1 Trillion. Thats not a typo.

Student loan debt (which can not be absolved thru bankruptcy) is now larger than ALL US personal credit debt, like car loans and credit cards, etc.

Yeh, the legal profession is going to have a field day suing deep-pocketed colleges.

I personally think our defense will be better next year
