This was sent to me by a poster on another board:

Robert Hall -- played LB in N/S All Star game....could be LB or DE...hoping for a 3rd kid from
Hawkinsville next year....reminds you of a Daryl Richard...raised by mother
D. Thomas -- BeBe --- hit the shot last night to beat Dublin in BB (their archrival)....big receiver
between 215 & 225..gonna play receiver for us...has that type of ability...raised by strict aunt
& uncle...great people
Spurrier went down to West Laurens...but he didn't get in the house! This is our state not his state
Laurence Marius -- Poppy..gonna play corner for us...played QB, TB, returned punts his senior season which
hurt his stats a bit....very excited about him...true cover corner who can lock players down
Cory Earls -- think he's one of the steals of the deal...extremely fast...chance to return kickoffs &
punts...loved him as junior...told him to work on his hands...came to camp this year and we offered him
he accepted within 2 days of that...he could be a gamebreaker...true 4.3 speed kid...very exciting young
man who plays basketball as well
Quincy Kelly -- bigger type back Curtis has been looking for quite a while...he can also run...actually 230
pounds when they put him on the scale last weekend...has a chance to be special just because of his size..
really good student...he "thinks" he's a 4.5 but there aren't a whole lot of 4.5's in combines
Trevor Bray -- FB's are extremely hard to find...guys who can catch, block, and run...everyone grows up
wanting to be a tailback...needed someone else to help Michael Cox out....about 232 pounds...has played
some tailback and fullback....Curtis wants a guy who has carried the football to play FB because FB is
an instinctual position...easiest FB to teach is someone who understands what the guy behind him is
seeing...Trevor has that...our requirements are 4 maths...he has 5...also played MLB..very tough....a lot
like Michael Cox but may have more "measurables" like high jump, etc...M.Cox is a great athlete and he
does things like jump over players to get to his block, but if you put them in a footrace, Trevor
would probably win
Jamaal Evans -- in school now...one of the top rushers in the history of the state of TX....AVERAGED 2200 yards
per year in the biggest division in the state...carried the ball a ton...smaller guy size wise...reminds
you a lot of the Imoh kid from VT.....Jamaal broke Tyson Thompson's record (plays for Cowboys now) who played
at the same HS and his coach says that Jamaal is the best he's ever had...he's going to get a big-time jump
on the other kids who are coming in this August...went to summer school so he could graduate early--both a
speed back and an elusive back...elusive type of back -- compares similarly to Rashaun but he's played a
lot more football than Rashaun has...has good hands but hasn't caught a lot of passes because he was the
I-back in a system that didn't throw the ball...also weighs as much now as RG does now after 2 years
Anthony Barnes -- has a chance to be an OUTSTANDING player...probably picked up 15 pounds of muscle...enrolled
in school at the moment and will get to play during spring practices
Shane Bowen -- could play in the secondary...but is going to grow into being a linebacker...very versatile
player who will also get a chance to compete in spring practice...saw it on tape that he's not afraid to
hit..."he's not afraid to come into piles with bad intentions"
Osahon Tongo -- top LB out of Illinois...another kid who is very versatile...a lot of people tried to recruit
him as a DE...he's also very happy to be part of GT...a lot of the other schools were actually recruiting him
at DE but we want him as a linebacker
Sedric Griffin -- smaller type of LB...5-10 or 5-11...but "I don't know that there's a faster LB in the Southeast"
he had a 4.41 time at combine...runs anchor leg of 4X100 relay...was one of the defensive captains of the
Shrine Bowl...one of the biggest Atlanta Braves fan you'll ever meet...one of the more productive players in
the state of SC the last 2 years..talk to his principal and you'll realize we're getting a special player and
a special person...he's going to be one of the fastest LB's in the ACC
Ben Anderson -- he was first commitment but he stayed solid when a LOT of people tried to get in on him...including
both SC schools...was kind of under radar prior to senior year....fits in the mold of Anoia, Richard, or Billy
frame-wise...big, aggressive, and athletic kid
Austin Barrick -- Tight End, HBack, Fullback type...very similar to J.P. Foschi...good hands, can move around,
plays TE, plays WR, can move him in the backfield...good agility and he has a burst...he's about a 4.6 kid and for
a big guy, that's very good...you'll see several times that he gets separation after the catch...he was being
recruited by VT and Miss State came in last week...he told them both "I'm sold on GT, no thanks"...his dad told
him, "If we commit, that's it...you won't have to worry about it"
Byron Ingram -- dad played in NFL for several years...had better junior year than senior...very smart &
very intelligent football player...great size and skills...coaches loved him at Tech's camp and offered him then
Dominique Reese -- very athletic and very good leader...all coaches can't say enough about him...this was their
first year to beat Opelika in 9 years...coach says it was because of him that he just willed the team to win...don't
know exactly where he will fit...return game, DB or WR

I thought it was interesting that he said major overhauls in recruiting were taking place by bringing in Geoff Collins, someone with proven experience, to concentrate on recruiting and high school relations...this is an added position. Additionally, he said one of the two new coaches will have to be an outstanding recruiter and will be on the road all the time.

Hey red -

I had a good time at the event this morning with your bro and Pop. My first time at the morning event!!

I have to say I think Griffin will be the true sleeper in this class. You can't coach speed and he loves to hit.

Giff LOVES Earls and mentioned him as a real "steal" and was the sleeper of this class. I see him as another Kelly Campbell.

Now if we can just throw it down field to him.....

Sounds very good, but it's frustrating that we're 5 years into this and we're just now making these changes.

Can't change the past.
There are more changes to come hopefully with the process which would allow Gailey to have exceptions each year to The Hill declining enrollment on good kids that can make it, such as one this year.

Very true NC. Will it be after year 6 or 7 that we hear that the need for a real offensive coordinator has been recognized?

The biggest problem we have is Clough, not the OC.

I agree with your comment.
Is it really true (anyone and everyone) that the goooooood doctor can do whatever he wants to kill the football program? This is a serious question.

Clough\'s attitude and overall

philosophy about the AA at Tech is the issue. He has way more influence that folks realize as to what transpires at the AA with regard to FB recruiting.

And along with it ...a lot of contributions$$$$$$..is he prepared for that?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The scary thing I heard is that Clough has brazenly told the high, HIGH $$ football supporters to keep their checkbooks in their pockets.
Evidently he has reason to believe other contributions will make up for what is lost.
This is either 1) a BS story, 2) a high stakes poker game, or 3) we are in big trouble.
