next Tech AD, is top heavy with Dawgs on their executive team. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wtf.gif 6/10 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pat.gif

This sux. Is Dr. Clough intent on destroying athletics at Tech? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/soapbox.gifHave we not learned enough from past mistakes? Didn't our last experience in taking a Dawg's (Vince Dooley)advice regarding a hire (football-Bill Lewis) in our athletic program prove to be disastrous? Why in the hell is Clough letting the foxes (dawgs) into our chicken coop? Fool us once shame on you, fool us twice shame on us. Saboteurs on the outside, and saboteurs on the inside. I'm starting to get a real queasy feeling. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puke.gif

And to just think:
All this time, everyone thought that DB was the problem. I have to wonder, WHAT IS CLOUGH THINKING???????????????

Sad, sad, sad!! You know for all the crap Ugag gives President Adams he at least had the knowledge to can Donnan and hire Richt. For Adams getting beat by Tech 3 years in a row was unacceptable, to Clough being Ugag's doormat is fine and dandy as long as the research grants continue to roll in.

Bottom line, Adams knows football is important to Ugag, Clough for whatever reason could care less about Tech football.

Consultants are about useless in any business setting. I have never met one that has done anymore than take way too much money for way too little work. We are basically paying a group to tell us what could found out with just a little bit of effort.

Before you go running into the street..........

Take a look at some of the other searches with which this firm is involved. Some very high-profile positions (Deans, Prez's, etc..) at some pretty prestigious institutions....including ND, UNC, and even Tech (Mgt School Dean).

Get a grip, people.

Sounds like a waste of $$

when after all this "searching", Curry is gonna be the man....

Re: Sounds like a waste of $$

Some of the stuff we complain about is simply idiotic. There are very few senior management positions filled at any major company without the involvement of a search firm. And that's what it is, a SEARCH firm. They get paid if they find a candidate that is hired or if they are on retainer. They don't decide who gets the position, they screen candidates and submit them to the real committee.

Yeah, it's odd that there are so many ugag grads involved, but then again Tech is located in GA and I can't imagine there are many Tech people in executive search firms.

But seriously, do you think that these guys are sitting there trying to figure out how to screw us on this? Just how would that help their company? They want a rousing success to trumpet on their website and marketing tools so that the next high profile school looking for an AD thinks of them.

I think the key is getting a glimpse of the job description - written.. I assume... by Clough~~ anyone got any ideas on how to get this???

NOOOOOOOOOO!! SAY IT ISN\'T SO!! Clough is an

idiot about athletics!! If an outside firm is needed, what the HELL IS GOING ON???? This s--ks so bad!! The sky IS falling!!!!

I am assuming that the main purpose of the search firm is to head off any discrimination type lawsuits. It's a shame, but this is how the world of big job openings is today.
"Search" firms are routinely told who to contact by the hiring party. Going thru a 3rd party allows a lot of wiggle room.

The term headhunter use to make people's skin crawl. It still might, but they are getting rich for the protection they offer.
In one sense, using a search firm is like employing the services of a pimp.
