This may need to go in the non-sports topics but its semi-football related so I put it here. My son wants a replica Tech jersey with his name and number on it for his birthday next month. I can easily find these things for pro sports and almost every other college. Does anybody know of a good source to get something like this?

Might be just as easy to buy a bookstore replica or something like that and take it to a place that puts names on jerseys for sports teams.

Have you considered changing your son's name to Vad Lee? That would make things easier.

He wants his number on it also and they only have a very small selection of numbers. For the ones that look the most current, all I see are 1, 7, 13, and 17.

The book store should have a few blank jersies in the back room, I got one in 09 but returned it. But as stated before, to get the name plate/numbers, just take it to your local sporting goods store that presses all the little league jersies.

Bored tonight and searched a good bit for college football jerseys for kids that can be customized with a name and number.

Shocked I didn't find anything. Why ignore that market?

Easy:

1) Call GT Athletic Dept and tell them you want to donate $1million.

2) Go meet GT and give them check.

3) Tell them exactly how you want the jersey.

4) Await jersey's arrival.

If you're going to do it, don't half-ass it, get the sewn on numbers not the pressed stuff. It won't cost that much more and it'll last years longer, even if he's wearing it to play pick up football.

From what I could find, the only reason I see that there is no market for this is because of NCAA licensing laws. It is supposedly illegal for anyone to sell any college jersey with the name and number of any current or former player. So even if your last name is Johnson and you wanted a 21 jersey, it would "technically" be illegal to make and sell. I don't understand this rule/law though and how it applies to custom jerseys. They wouldn't be using anyone's name and number to promote and sell jerseys. Consumers would be the ones paying premiums for what they want. :dunno:

Search Google for wholesale jerseys. You can find lots of sites that sell knock off stuff for pretty cheap. The downside is it comes from China and occasionally they screw up the order. They will make almost any custom jersey for you if you can get in touch with their customer support.

Another downside is it takes about 3 weeks to ship and has to go through customs, so it may be too late for the bday.

gosh what color would you want......we cant even decide what tech gold is anymore...five uni changes in five yrs and we still suck.....I would though try the bookstore since any other place other than a large city has no tech gear to speak off.

I had these guys make me a custom Shawn Jones jersey a few years back. Very high quality stuff. I think I paid them about $125 or so to make it.

Jeez.. I figured it would cost about that much or so, just emailed them about making one and got this response..

"Thanks for your interest. We don't have the material to make this design. Sorry."

Huh.....They may just not be able to do stuff in the more modern fabric. I don't know. Sorry it didn't work out.

:dunno:
