A solid dose of 4 and 5 star recruits on the offensive side of the ball. Would we be any better? Would we be in a different offense? Would the results from games against the big boys be any different?

IMO, I'm just not sure in this offense we would be any better. Who knows maybe I am wrong.

Big strong athletic offensive linemen and fast athletic rb's and wr's? I think so. Dwyer was a 4* Imagine someone like Richardson at BB

Not even a debate. Yes we would be better. Problem is kids aren't used to being asked to retrain themselves for a system like this. Hence lower talent in recruiting. Trust the coach or cuss the hill with a pro style coach.

Yes, we'd have more play making ability and better blocking. But overall, the offense has never been the problem with CPJ. I contend that, despite what we saw last night, it will not be a problem this year.

Isn't the option a "high school" offense? Kids are used to it, but the stars in their eyes cause bad decisions that lead to being a janitor at some Alabama grade school. Albeit, a well paid janitor.

I hope you are correct buzz. We do put up big numbers in most games except when we are playing better talent. Ugag aside, since we have put large numbers on the board against them.

With our coaching mentality as of now, these 4/5 stars would be coached down by Sewak.

Maybe a better question would be, would this offense be successful on a consistent basis?

If you could match up 4/5 stars against good defenses, would the offense work? I remember the days of Oklahoma and Texas running the triple option and they were unstoppable. Has the game evolved beyond this type of offense being a success?

Nope. There's absolutely NO WAY that more talent would be beneficial to our team. That's just crazy talk. 4 and 5 stars would just hurt our offense. (All the Sarcasm)

Depends on where they are. If they were on the lines, we'd be fine. A 3 star running back would be fine behind an Alabama line, but not behind ours. By the same token, if we had consistent pressure from the defensive line, anyone could get away with lesser talent at other positions. Can your brother still play? He can't be worse than a Sewak coached player. I'm sure he could just fall down in front of a defensive lineman as well as our current group can.

With Sewak coaching the O line, yes.

I don't think the main problem on Thursday was the quality of athletes.

This offense, or variant of it, can work at the college or pro level. You've already got aspects of it in Seattle, Philadelphia, and SF.

Back when CPJ coached for Erk Russell, he came up with his plan to run out of a spread (run and shoot) formation. He's been so successful with it that I think he's gotten complacent with it, and Mike London, Bud Foster, and some other guys have picked up things they can exploit. He started to work out of that in the Duke and UNC games by running different formations--same offense, just a variation, and he scared everybody.

He backslid into his comfort zone on Thursday, and he got burned.

I think he should let his young assistants try some things--I'm sure they have a ton of ideas.

As for the blocking schemes, I'm not sure how much cut-blocking vs. "straight-up" matters. The Denver Broncos made a living cut blocking for decades, but I think you're better off when the other guy doesn't know what's coming.

Yes it would matter. It's not mostly about the X's and O's but the Jimmy's and Joe's. That being said, I love all the men on the team who have chosen to represent my alma mater and will yell and cheer for them bc they deserve it for their hard work of representing Te Georgia Institute of Technology.

F*** you! I asked a question for an opinion you moron.

Don't get pissy with me because I call you out for making an idiotic statement that, "I'm not sure we would be any better in this offense with 4 and 5 star players." Dumb statement gets appropriate response.

As I posted in the last thread started by mover 2 and with more detail in its own thread--and Andrew started a thread with the same point--our offense already did better against VPI than Bama who does get 4 and 5 star kids.

Would we be better if we had better players? How can you expect people to take that as a serious question?

Really! By your logic, Saban should consider changing his offense because it didn't do well against a really good D. Curse all you want, but that's just stupid.
