George O'Leary...

It wasn't their fault. What were they supposed to do, once it got out, thanks to a small paper in New Hampshire, he claimed things that weren't true on his resume? Even if they had caught it, instead of the press, he wouldn't have kept the job.

Nope. Not what happened ND $ Lums were furious with the hire, went looking for the dirt.

Well, there was that TIAR thingy. What are odds of a repeat of that!?

Lol, no coach is going to come into GT and do as well as PJ has done.

He's 20-22 in his last 42 games---now that he is playing with his recruits.

If that's the best GT can do, then let's shut the program down and deed BDS/Grant Field to Georgia State.

You are as logical as the Tax Code.

I think GOL is the whole package as far as coaching goes. Would rather have him than CPJ. However.. can't happen I guess.

but wait... I thought GOL was nothing without Fridge...

Lol, no coach is going to come into GT and do as well as PJ has done. In his 5 and a half years he's gotten an ACC title, won the division multiple times, been runner up even when he didn't save for maybe this year but it's still a long season and recruited slightly better than Gailey and if this years class holds up at a top 30 class then he will definitely have things right.

I don't think PJ is a bad coach at all, but I don't think he's recruited better than Gailey. If the recruiting rankings indicate then, then it's either a reflection of how inaccurate these rankings are or an indication that PJ's player development isn't as good as Gailey's, because Gailey never fielded a team with this little talent on the field. The 2007 class was obviously not the norm, but we still reeled in good players, some with with pro futures, before then. This year's team doesn't have anyone on the level of a Tashard Choice, Philip Wheeler, Dawan Landry, etc.

George O'Leary the current green light across the bay for Georgia Tech football.

Last 42 games? So like this season so far, last year, 2011 and some BS small portion of 2010? Great use of stats.

I think it's actually 20-22 in our last 42 games against FBS teams. 24-22 since the start of 2010 counting FCS games. Basically, we've been pretty mediocre since winning the ACC.

I agree. But it's not like we were blown out in 22 games. 6 or 7 of those games could've gone our way. I'm not making an excuse, cuz the talent gap is pretty clear... but these xx-xx records with runners in scoring position on a Tuesday with a good hair day stats just annoy me.

I think one of the big problems is that we just don't stand much of a chance if we're trailing in the final 5 minutes or so of a game, even if it's a one-score game. We've won some close games, but they're usually games where we end the game with the lead AND the ball.

I know we had the ACC championship game drive, the comeback win against Wake in 2010 and marched down the field to tie against VT last year, but those are the only times I can think of us coming from behind to tie or take the lead in the final minutes of the game. Meanwhile, we've had at least 8-9 instances where our inability to produce an effective passing attack has caused us to stall in late game situations.

I get annoyed when I hear announcer talk about how our offense struggles to come from behind, mainly because I think we're fine coming from behind provided we're not down by 3 scores (which is a hurdle for any team, regardless of offense) and that there's ample team remaining. What seems clear, though, is that we DO struggle more than a lot of teams with coming back late in games, which makes it paramount that we aren't trailing in the last 5-7 minutes of the game. It also means our chances to win a game in which we're down by more than a touchdown at any point in the 4th quarter are slim, even if the base offense is effective.
