I personally think he has looked a step slow this year and I am wondering if he has been playing hurt and finally had to sit out a bit.
 
IMO, JHD doesnt have good instincts and often finds himself out position on a play he should be making
 
My discussion is this: he better get better quickly because he's gonna be playing with Harrell out.
 
Didn't we play more of a 4-2-5 yesterday?
 
And I was wondering about him too. Zero tackles.
 
He was out most of preseason camp with an injury right?

I thought the Nickel traded a linebacker for an extra cornerback while the 4-2-5 replaces a linebacker with an extra safety?
 
We ran nickel against their scheme. JHD is playing fine.

Its a backer or a lineman for another DB. Point is that you are playing with 5 DBs.
 
It was fascinating that Syracuse never adjusted their defense. VT pulled the safties up and did all they could to disrupt the QB mesh or pitch. Syracuse seemed content to sit back with two deep safeties.

With the exception of bowl games, most teams struggle when they run into CPJ's offense for the first time. I expect they will learn from the game and be better prepared next time around.
