I really have been bewildered by some of the fans here related to the teams success this year. To me the only real disappointment was losing to VT. That was a tough game for TECH and with the exception of a fumble right at the beginning I think TECH would have won the game. TECH has a notoriously difficult time with Miami and in Miami I would have expected the loss. I had hoped for a possible win at BYU, but given the difficulty with the schedule that may have been a bit optimistic. The coaches have done an excellent job preparing the team and getting the most out of our athletes. We are in second place in the Coastal and there is a possibility we can win the Coastal if we can beat Clemson. We have a nice break before the Thursday night game with Clemson and just maybe we can win this one. Stay positive my friends.

Besides the odd capitalization I agree with you. People just want to be butthurt.

I've said all year that the only loss that really hurt was VPISU. We should have beaten them, and how we lost to them made the loss all the more bewildering.

Had we beaten them, we'd be right in the thick of the ACC title hunt right now.

We lost three games in a row. We looked fairly pedestrian against a bad Pitt team and a bad Virginia team. Our highly touted QB doesn't look so awesome playing behind a highly touted O-line which looks just plain bad. Our defense, the squad with a new coordinator that should be a major question mark, is saving our asses in games when it shouldn't be required to.

We're an average team. And the problem is some of us think, given the hype and the players and the years with this system, that we should be something better than average.

After nine games, our signature win for the season is Duke. Let that sink in.

I no longer believe in would of, should of or could of in sports. duke is saying the same thing about our game as some here are saying about our vt game.

We had our shot the same as our opponents. The rest is spitting in the wind.

I just believe in 9 - 3

Clearly I wanted to beat them at the time, and I was very dejected after the game but I am kind of glad we (more than likely) won't have to face FSU this year.

There is only 1 other team in the with a win over Duke. Which is nuts when you think about it.

While we've been pleasantly surprised by the weaknesses we predicted actually being strengths, it hurts that our supposed strengths have ended up being weaknesses. We were expecting to see an offensive juggernaut and instead have been stuck with defensive matches.

As a result, we're hesitant to believe in the apparent strength of our defense.

However, the polls in the preseason seemed to show that most of us expected a 8-9 win season, and a bowl win or an upset puts us squarely into that.

I would say that neither one of them has done anything "great" for Tech. At least not according to my definition of great.

Edit: Great = National Chamionship

Over 6-2 Duke, a team that will probably end up 9-3. Only one other team has beaten Duke this year, and that was a weird game against Pitt. Duke crushed Navy, who also beat Pitt and played Notre Dame close. And they beat VT on the road (before VT went into a tail spin and then lost to BC).

Trying to imply that beating Duke this year is not a decent win won't work. Sure, it's Duke, but they are getting votes in the AP and coaches polls. Beating them this year is no worse or better than would be beating 8 or 9 win UNC or UVA teams in recent years.

wait what? Great=National Championship? I guess Chip Kelly's time at Oregon wasn't so great after all.

Couple rose bowls and a fiesta bowl does not meet the definition of success?

Let's be rational here. If we won two orange bowls and got an at large bid we'd be calling to have a statue of Paul Johnson in front of the stadium.

Success doesn't necessarily equal greatness unless one lowers the requirements of greatness.

Don't miss the post, both coaches are great for Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech is a tough school to coach at and those two men understand that better than any two coaches that have been at TECH in a long time. I have always thought that due to the grueling academics some athletes suffer at TECH. The academics gets in their head.

The equation of life: expectations minus reality equals disappointment.

OLine is playing replacements, QB is stuck behind them.

2008 and 2009 were nice. Roof did some great things when he wore a jersey.

Our 2013 ppg is 10 more than in 2008 and about the same as 2009. Our 2013 ppg allowed is 1.5 less than in 2008 and about 6 less than in 2009.

I know that w-l is ultimately what matters, but c'mon. If you can't enjoy the direction we're going, you got problems.
