Time for change

26 is a funny number, the same number of times we threw it against Clemson. Some of that was being in catch-up mode, but we also threw it 24 times against VT. Those are the two opponents who really stacked the box and we threw 20+ times just like Auburn.

Yeah... but when Auburn throws, they actually look like they know what they're doing.

TechRush you are right and all 3 of those are very possible. Getting blown out by Georgia would be the worst thing. I am not sure if I could handle watching that at all. And as far as a bowl goes losing a stupid bowl game again would be really bad. I love Ga Tech football and will always love GaTech football. Hey, even if all the Paul Johnson fans give him a lifetime contract because they think we canot do better ever, I will still love the Ramblin' Wreck

There's something to this.

I don't think the GusBone (Auburn and Clemson's high school offense) is fundamentally any superior to the JohnsonBone. But I do wonder how much time they spend in practice on passing vs running vs GT, and whether that practice makes them better passers.

In a world of infinite practice time, I would choose our offense over any other available offense. At this point in the development of the offense, though, I question whether there's enough time within the NCAA limitations to get "good" at both.

It's funny how many times people have posted stuff like "Duke would destroy us now" or "Navy would destroy us" (Actual comment from after BYU game), but if we actually beat Duke or Navy you know they would give us no credit for it. They're just Duke or Navy after all.

In the world of CPJ haters, for lack of a better term of those who generally come around only when losing and greatly exaggerate our team's faults, CPJ has both recruited FCS talent and has zero ability to coach. Duke, UNC, Pitt, UVA and Syracuse are all worthless teams because we beat them, but Duke at least would destroy us if we played again. Their mind does not adhere to the boring Newtonian physics of the reality of being a #30-#40 team, but instead views every fact through a quantum mechanical uncertainty. Every fact is both true or false and takes one of those values depending on which one makes CPJ look worse.

Applause.

I'm convinced that it isn't the coaches or the fans. It's the restrictions we place on ourselves (which could change) and the nature of the Institute itself (which will not change).

Even with the restricitons lifted we are not going to be a top 10 team every year.

I would gladly trade what we currently have for a top 25 team every year with the occasional top 10 peaking and a glimpse of hope every decade we could imagine this team ever being in the top 4 or 8 in a playoff system.

That doesn't exactly sound like a fair trade. What are you willing to offer to sweeten the deal?

I am saying I would trade more exceptions and a lessoning of the academic guard for a better team. I don't expect championships every year but a glimmer of hope.

National championships? Because we were in the acccg last year and could have won it had our WR watched his feet.

We can't be eliminated from the division race this year until the last week of the season (my guess is that we tie for the best record in the division for the 4th time in 6 years).

It would take probably 2 exceptions a year, maybe 1, to get over that hump.

Awbarn threw it 26 times for barely over 200 yards. Thankfully, 73 were on one wonderful, fluke play at the end. Not exactly the model to follow, but I'd take it a week from Saturday for the same result.

Without reading all 230 responses, which offense do you want? Last time I checked, all of the offensive "experts" already have gigs paying more than we do.

Ha! Don't mention that ridiculous fluke play, it will mess his stats up so that he can't talk öööö about CPJ with them

25 completions for ~130yds sounds a lot worse than 26 for ~200.

Schrodinger's ranking?

I have a great idea. Let's use this weekends game to practice our passing skills. I have a feeling Georgia will be looking for us to run week from this saturday.

First, I don't think it will do any good at this point.

Second, I've often thought in games such as Syracuse where we win 56-0, we should be throwing it around to get our offense comfortable passing in game situations.

In fact, I think CPJ should have us throw the ball 15 times per game minimum regardless of the flow of the game. We have to do it so that it will be there when we need it. And I don't want to hear that's what practice is for...games are different. Our O doesn't get donkey punched in practice like it did against VT and 1st Q against Clemson.
