We Played Well

Yes, we played well --perhaps one of the better efforts GT has given this season. There were few miscues, but the miscues that were really cost us --the 4Q INT, The missed pass to Godhigh in the first half that would have blown the game open, the bonehead personal foul on Watts.

Prior to UGA's scoring drive at the half, I remember looking up at the scoreboard and seeing that GT had > 200 yards more offense, but < a three score lead --this concerned me ...when UGA scored right before the half this REALLY concerned me, as they were getting the ball to start the 2nd half.

Even though GT did so many things right in the first half, points were certainly left on the field. Mason is a quality QB --and he found his rhythm in the second half. Couple this with UGA rotating in two/three deep OL against our "Thin Gold DL" and well, the results were there for all to see.

Early on I thought I was witnessing shades of 1984, 1990 or 1998 again --when Tech truly dominated UGA from start to finish. But in the end, it's a bitter, bitter, disappointing loss. I took it pretty hard, but at the end of the day it truly is a college football game --and the demands of life go on.

Sure we played well, but the bottom line is we lost --again ...to UGA. And there is nothing worse in all of sports than that.

Being very personal here and a bit nostalgic but I am getting old and having some health issues, right now I feel like 2008 may be the last GT win over UGAG that I may see

Really hope to be wrong but losing a big lead and ultimately losing again seems so typical

I hope some of you youngsters get a chance to see a GT win someday but I am thinking that CPJ may never get another win over these guys

Their luck against us is legend and shows no sign of changing anytime soon, just another heartbreak of a loss to these guys, it really does hurt more every year. Ah well, perhaps another poorly attended Shreveport game again?

I envy you guys who take solace in MBB games but that means little to me as football is really what matters to many of us I think

There is no solace in MBB. They are worse than the football team. At least we use to have MBB to fall back on. We don't even have that anymore.

Uh... Anybody that isn't a dumbass. They still lost, which sucks, but I was pretty encouraged finally seeing us make somebody pay in the passing game.

This wasn't a 51-7, 42-10, or even a 31-17. We played really well all game and just got outmanned at the end. It hurts bad, but it is a hell of a lot better than getting blown out. It is possible to be proud of the players and still upset about the loss, you know.
This is the game that I watched. It hurt, but nowhere near as much as the unwatchable assööööings we've taken the last few years.

Yeah I am getting on up there as well. I was born in 1949 and at the end of the Dodd era 1967 we were pretty even with the hated dumb asses from Athens. The last 40 plus years they have managed to pull way ahead of us in the record books. I use to think if I lived to be 65 or 70 we would possibly win enough during that time span to pull back even with them. I gave up on that goal about 15 years ago.

What I have learned over these many years is to quit putting so much of my personal happiness or sadness on the outcome of this game. Yeah it still hurts like hell when we lose and when do win it is a high that last for a year at least. I came to realize that I have absolutely no control over the outcome and hey after all this is suppose to be entertainment and not some sort of mental anguish inducing break down causing life experience. You learn when you pass the 60 year mark or so, that hell, life is short and you need to enjoy every day.

I still love Georgia Tech football and it has been a big part of my life. I take pride in Georgia Tech and what it stands for and no matter how many times we lose to Georgia I am glad I am not associated with them and what they represent.

So I will try to enjoy each and every game that I have the privilege to attend or watch on TV. I hope we win every time we take the field but I know there is always the chance we will not. That's why they play the game.

There are so many aspects of Tech football to embrace and enjoy, recruiting, signing day, spring practice, fall camp and then of course the games themselves. The Georgia game is just one element that goes into the overall experience. You should enjoy as much of that as you can and not let the outcome of one game ruin your overall experience.

Just some of my personal philosophy, whatever that is worth.

I think if you retitled the thread, "At least this year it wasn't a dumpster fire" everyone probably would have agreed and moved on.

Don't forget to add "... because Murray was out." This game was supposed to be close. The spread was 3, not 15.
