So one of the knocks on CPJ is recruiting and we have a former player forming his opinion of CPJ and the stuff based primarily on the fact that we didnt recruit a player who barely started for The Citadel.

When do we stop the hero worship???

The former players who play in pro systems think CPJ is an idiot for running his offense and still expect him to worship them. Sounds logical.

So, from earlier in the thread, how is Mover apparently on the same page as the Feldman tweet while Quinlan and apparently CPJ himself dispute the report? In the original Feldman thread, a poster apparently in the know also said he was hearing that he was willing to accept less than the original buyout. That was NOT in the Feldman tweet.

It's all quite bizarre. Feldman and Mover aren't making it up out of thin air.

No they aren't
I heard about it before the tweet ever came out. I guess he was running his mouth quite a bit. My guess is to put the word out, get some feelers, because he was serious

People like Mover are the ones that built Georgia Tech football. They deserve our respect far more than any mercenary coach. He was here long before Paul Johnson, and will still be here long after Johnson pimps himself off to another school.

The buyout rumor certainly seems to have more substance than originally thought. Its terrible timing but I don't see how things can go forward without something drastic.

Cause it would be completely impossible for someone with an agenda to spread false rumors, right?

What doesn't make sense for me at all is that if CPJ did want out and GT really wanted him out too, why would we be concerned about the buyout?

Sorry Coaches build programs and mover isn't writing you into his will. People earn my respect through their actions and former players who were very successful in the NFL voicing their displeasure with the program at every opportunity is not a move that earns or deserves respect. It is also not the action of someone who "built" GT football. Stephon Marbury and Javatis Crittenton played basketball for us too. Do I need to respect them?

Bullshit... Dodd himself said the most important thing above all is the young man who plays the game. The most influential coach and architect of Tech football doesn't even agree with you. And you further insult Mover and Nate by comparing them to two athletes who don't give a öööö about Tech.

Nor do I need Mover to write me into his will... my career as a physician will take care of me well enough, thanks.

Until people realize this show is only about Paul Johnson then they should get what they wish for. This mfer has alienated everyone but a couple of big donors who get their rocks off because they can say they hang with Paul.
No offense JD but it sounds like you've got something personal against the current coaching staff. That in itself isn't a big deal. However, for someone like me that is trying to look at everything objectively, it's difficult to take your comments into consideration.

All of that crap aside though, I'm not at all convinced that if GT did fire CPJ that we'd get some top notch coach that'll turn it around considering the $8m we'll owe him. I just don't think that unless we hire a high-profile name that recruiting will be turned around as quick as people think.

Not really sure what all this complaining and whining is accomplishing. If you guys think CPJ can't do any better then it's just a matter of time since he's going to be gone in 1-3 years. What's there to stress about?

At least respect him enough not to lump him in the "Crittenton" category

We shouldn't grovel at his every word just because he played for Tech. He's frustrated with the staff for reasons outside of Tech's performance. Plus, he's posting unsubstantiated rumors on a message board. That alone is enough to take anything said with a grain of salt.

Even if a handful of ex-players wanted to buy him out and had the money to do so, the admin would still have to want him out as well. From what I gather, they're thrilled with his off-the-field success. (APR, grad rates, no embarrassing legal problems)

No one is trying to insult former players. But taking their word as gospel and not debating the point is not very prudent. Having a discussion may be, but this is not a discussion.

You bring up Dodd, so why don't we bring up Mover's coach. He left Tech to go coach for the school and conference that was the very reason for Dodd pulling Tech out of the SEC. What does that tell you about his thoughts on the "most influential coach and architect of Tech football"?

Why don't we have a dialogue about Bill Curry and why he left GT to coach at Alabama? I am honestly curious as to what the "truth" is on this. Is this the kind of coach we are looking for?

Although I appreciate former players coming on here and sharing their thoughts, especially after suffering through what we did academically, their opinions are just that opinions.

In the end I think we all just want was it best for Tech. People have different opinions on how to get there. Not every one is going to be satisfied with the process or the results.

Oh, and by the way, as a physician, unless you are moving to a Concierge service you are not going to be "well enough" under ACA.

Well this is certainly compelling stuff. I sure as hell don't know anybody inside GT because I didn't go there so my ass is going to stay out of this. I guess we will find out.

I find it super hard to believe that like one or three GT donors can't come up with 7 mil. That's pocket change to some of the GT grads and donors. But I digress.

I just hope whatever happens is for the good of the football program and institute. The institute could really make some money if they could get football rolling and butts in the seats. More butts like mine. Non GT grads.

I'm unhappy with Paul Johnson , the mfer wants to leave, I know it for truth
Everyone that's married wants to leave at some point. It doesn't mean they actually do it. Or feel that way all the time. Hell, it's probably a good thing in some ways.

The problem with Paul is that he transitioned from a winner, to a loser. No one likes a loser.

I think he's on a cold streak, but he still has the essential grit in him. I guess we'll see because he's with us for 2 more seasons win or lose.

Regardless of where the truth lies with regards to CPJ's feelings, the negativity surrounding the program right now is as toxic as any transfers or potential firings. If the administration feels there's truth to his desire to get the heck out of dodge, then make the move now, and let us try to salvage recruiting (despite all of our pissing and moaning about it, changing coaches now could have a very strong effect on what recruiting success we have at the moment). Otherwise we shut the hell up about it, and focus on rebounding next season. All of the rumor mongering and such only hurts the program as a whole.
