Louisville about to re-hire Petrino

I think he just didn't understand how much either one of those things would hurt and he liked the imagery. He seems sort of surprised when the gas can briefly turns into a blow torch in his face. Inexperience, it'll kill ya. Not nearly as fast as you want it to, sometimes.

Jimbo is ok. I still think he got outcoached in the Nat'l Championship game....and against NC State last year. Seriously, FSU gets anyone they want. It's like they're an SEC school or something. :lol:

As a UofL grad I like it from a purely football perspective. Think his off the field issues may keep him away from other big schools, but wouldn't be surprised to see him bolt.

Regardless game days at Louisville are going to so much better being in the ACC.

The Jackets will always be my number one team though. Go Jackets!

Does that mean Arkansas would be making the same mistake again in hiring him? Louisville AD is one of the best and most respected in the business. College football, simply put, is about winning and generating revenue to support the other sports...period!

Exactly. You don't give a öööö at the end of the day that he was fooling around with some intern. You just care about him making your work week more enjoyable by winning games on Saturdays.

Like all rock-solid sources, I knew a guy who knew a guy who played for Petrino at Louisville. According to my friend, he hated him, said he wasn't surprised by the Falcons debacle and that "Arkansas will get what's coming to them." This was before the motorcycle thing.

I'm not sure he will be a long-term success at any program, as he needs to recruit and retain assistants over the long-term.
 
So he got some strange. That's between he, his wife/family, and God. Get the dubya's and all is forgiven in football.
 
Best hire they could have made. He has already been shamed into behaving going forward. I'm sure Jurich put it in his contract that any sign of any type of crap of any kind and his ass is grass.

At the end to the day if you are winning, every thing else will work itself out. Petrino will be a tough out for anybody he plays, ACC, SEC or any other league.

Yep, I think Louisville looks at the options and is saying "we want to get off to a good start, we have some players, we want to continue our success and reputation...have to hire the best coach regardless of stuff."
 
that man is one R away from being a good coach, but Louisville apparently oveRlooks his downsides and likes his name being so, so, well, almost familiar to their fans
 
I just lost respect for every Dad that has a girl that's a cheerleader for these people. I would not have my daughter within a mile of this guy. Louisville is this stupid? I'm still surprised Western Kentucky gave this guy a gig. Bobby Petrino should be in prison before he ever coaches D1 football again. He's a sexual predator. Really unbelievable. Is this a serious story?

This is a perfect hire for their football program. There's zero chance he'll be there in four years, but they know what they're doing. They've started something, but they're not high profile enough yet to land a top coach without baggage, and Petrino will get them to that point by winning the ACC at least a couple times.

As a fan, this is probably the one thing my alma mater could do that would stop me from being a fan. But most fans aren't like that (although I like to think GT has a higher percentage like that than most).

What did he do besides screw the Falcons and cheat on his wife? Honestly. I didn't follow Louisville athletics until I started going to school there two years ago, so those are the only high profile negative things I know about the guy.

Petrino is a piece of rotten dog öööö. I have been a Falcon's fan since birth. Didn't even have the decency to finish a full season with the Falcons before the coward left in the middle of the night. Follows that up with cheating with a young intern. Guy has no scruples. The fact that Louisville hired him after he high tailed it out of their reeks of desperation.

Glad we added a school with such high academic & moral standards to our conference. :rolleyes:
