Lol, that's exactly what I was thinking when I wrote it.
too bad your ability to think seems marginal at best. comparing hiring a recruiting assistant to hiring a head coach. comparing smoking pot to hiring an unqualified applicant in basically a fraud case tied to sexual impropriety. yeah, pretty similar

you are a moron, go back to 89 and start over

You're a joke. They both messed up, but Joe Ham doing illegal activities and endangering others lives by operating a vehicle under the influence, you don't even think twice. It doesn't matter which position each holds its the fact that you ignore one and not the other.

They both interact with young guys on the football team and I guess we'll never promote Joe Ham if he's qualified otherwise going by your logic and he shouldn't seek a higher position at other schools, since he won't deserve it.

I also hope you've never done anything wrong in your life at all because I fear you will never forgive yourself and may decide to end it all, which would be a sad day for the StingTalk community.

Let's not act like Petrino has repented and changed just because he waved his arms around and said a bunch of stuff. This is a man who, 13 months ago, took the WKU job and said he wanted to stay there for as long as possible.

Petrino said:
“My vision for Western Kentucky University’s football program is to take it to the next level,” said Petrino. “Just like you do as a football coach, everything works in a progression where you work from step A to step B. You crawl before you walk, you walk before you run. That is what I see us doing here at WKU.

"We need to consistently, every year, go to a bowl game. We need to win a conference championship, we need to every single year. We need to get in a position where we are ranked in the top 25 and get in a position where we can compete to be in a BCS bowl game. That is where we see our program going. When you look at the Boise State’s of the world and the teams that have been able to do that, that is our expectation. That is where we feel we have the opportunity to go.”
He is a serial liar, and has no credibility in anything other than his play calls. The fact that you continue to lump him into the same category as Joe Hamilton shows that you just don't understand why there is so much negativity around this guy. He's displayed a pattern of untrustworthiness and the inability to care about anyone but himself at almost every possible level.

Oh no, I get that about the guy, but it also happens a lot in college athletics. Kids say they are committed then switch commitments and he's not the only coach to leave for greener pastures after saying similar things.

I only compared him to Joe for off the field issues. I also think endangering other people on the road while under the influence is a BIG deal, doesn't mean I bash the guy because Tech hired him

I'm just saying no one is perfect and its not like I have a say who the coach will be at UofL. I'll enjoy the ride and hope hiring him won't cause anything negative to happen for UofL, that's all I can do as a fan.

While it's understandable that it happens a lot, people lie, and leave, and should be given second chances, they don't normally do it constantly for their entire career. I can't think of one other prominent figure in athletics who has done it with the consistency that Petrino has. He lied and left in his first stint at Louisville, he lied and left in week 13 with the Failcons, he lied to his wife and kids and finally caught some consequences at Arkansas, but it didn't stop him from lying at the same pace and leaving at WKU. There's no evidence that this guy is anything other than a liar, or that he did any of those things for redeeming reasons. This is a guy who has had his second chance, and his third, and his fourth, and so on.

Joe messed up once. Sure, it was in a very big way, but he didn't establish himself as a person without any control over his issues, as Petrino has. By all indications, Joe deserves a second chance, as did Petrino. They both got it, but that's where the similarities end. I'm not trying to bash Petrino, but to say that he deserves a second chance when he's on his sixth or seventh chance is wrong, as is to conflate his character with Joe's.

I'll enjoy watching his tenure at Louisville as much as the next guy, and I don't begrudge him his job. I'm just stating my opinion: Petrino is a risky hire for Louisville in a lot of ways. They are gambling that the football good will outweigh whatever bad, or that they can contain or control it somehow. I don't believe for a second that Jurich thinks Petrino is a changed man. Jurich is a pretty smart guy, and he's got as much dirt on the man as I do, and certainly then some. Jurich and Petrino just have one thing in common that has brought them back together: winning football games.

I understand all of that and I'm not going to disagree with any of it.

I think anyone else who would have taken the Louisville job would be gone just as soon as Petrino may, if they had become successful and I'm sure that was taken into consideration.

I'm a bit biased too, like am with GT, but because I went to school there and plan on going back as well.

I don't want my school to be bashed for the decisions made by the Athletic programs it has no reflection on the work I put in to get my degree and I'm öööö proud I graduated with honors.

Not saying you said any of that and I'm well aware the school isn't an academic powerhouse but it doesn't seem the school is very well respected around here. /youknowwhatreallygrindsmygears

Anyways, I'm a Tech fan first and foremost so lets continue to more pressing matters like GT football.

Go Jackets!

are you Bobby Petrino? how can you defend such a piece of crap?

and to compare Joe Hamilton to him? you disgust me

seriously, you must be related to Petrino or have a man crush on him to forgive the slimeball piece of crap stuff that he has done over and over and over.

please dont mention Joe Hamilton again in the same discussion as that piece of crap.

and ive done plenty wrong, but i dont falsely make promises only to bolt for the next place to abuse my power and take advantage of trust bestowed but then betrayed.

personally, i hope he fails at Louisville and gets fired after 2 years

Booooooooo Louisville!!! I will now pull against them in most every game. They sold their soul and didn't care who saw it. How any can't see that and/or justify this is sad. The day GT did something like this is the day I'm no longer a fan.

This just in, every major college coach is a liar. The job is more about being a politician and a salesman than it is about coaching and Xs and Os. Is Petrino a good guy? Probably not, but I guarantee you that he's the rule rather than the exception when it comes to unfaithful behavior and serial lying.

Keep up the naivety and the righteous indignation, though. It'll probably make you feel better when Louisville wipes the floor with GT in every sport that matters.

Petrino isnt' a great role model, but he's a decent coach. I'm glad GT typically runs a tight ship, but you can't be terribly surprised when others choose not to.

When Petrino ditched the Falcons, he left a note in the players' lockers. That's all you need to know about the guy.

Never said I liked that part about him and I'm not going to judge him harshly because I'm no saint.

I'm sorry you are offended.

I'm not offended. I think it was a great hire. No problem with it whatsoever. I would take Petrino at GT in a heartbeat.

Sweet. Emotion is lost through text, so assumed the worst.

Can't wait for the Cards to play in the ACC. Ideal scenario would be for GT to play against them in the CG every year and win it 2/3 years lol.

Going to be exciting

Until that guy beat UGA three times in a row and you couldn't resist the urge to be part of the fun :)

I'm not saying that at all. I just didn't see any Tech fans oppose letting him back after he was caught with illegal drugs and driving under the influence.

I guess if we hired a Preacher as an HC, but filled the rest of the staff with ex cons everything would be ok with you? Or am I putting words into your mouth like you did me?

There are, indeed, many GT fans that would take GO'L back after what he did.

Not saying it is right or wrong in either situation coz I don't care. I am not in on the meetings and won't judge things based on what the media sez.

I really believe much of the uproar is because many here think it makes it harder to beat UoL.

And of course it makes their diplomas at GT worth less based on what UoL does.

He left Jaguars (as an OC for Coughlin) without telling Coughlin anything. Coughlin was pissed off to find about it when Auburn announced the hire.

In his only year at WKU, he got the trainer fired, because he wouldn't return players from injury as quick as he would like.

He hired his mistress to a position at the athletic association, well beyond their usual positions.

If you think Petrino is the 'norm', you just haven't read about him enough. I am not saying other coaches are saints, but Petrino is among the most immoral.

A Falcons player publicly called him 'a coward', his Falcons DC called publicly him 'a gutless bastard'.

But he is a winner.
