How long will Bobinski last?

Too early to tell.

He has yet to hire his own basketball or football coach here.

I like him, but don't sense an AD lifer. I think he'll probably move on within a few years.

My take on Bobinski is that the "interview" he gave was due to so many alums/fans contacting him (indirectly through his filters) that he had to do that interview. Did he say anything of importance...no. Has he once replied to a couple of emails I sent to him via his Tech email address...no. Have I heard from his assistant (filter) to my couple of emails...no. Do I have the right to feel that he is not doing his job....yes.
TERRIBLE communicator to the alumni base and fans. I do not know of anything that he has done to make Tech a better place.
I am still stewing from DRAD and his nonsense and costly errors and Tech continues to pay for it.
Personally, I don't believe Tech sports is in a good place at this point. So much to do and so little to support that anything is being done to address problems. I am not saying firing anyone....but when we are faced with so many negatives and losses coming at us in every direction one would think we all would hear some positives and directions are forthcoming. My thirteen cents on this.

The amount of handwringing over the fact that Bobinkski doesn't respond to asinine emails from fans is hilarious.

It'll be problematic for Bobinski to use us as a bridge job to an athletic juggernaut.
D-Rad left his mark by building all the new facilities, so M-Bob will have to make his mark by revitalizing our football and basketball programs. That'll be a lot harder than funding a new arena or football practice building.

Well, we did see him speak a few weeks ago, so there is confirmation that he is alive. That was a positive first step. He should take a picture holding up the newspaper every few weeks to confirm he is still alive.

Just curious. Why do you think the AD should be visible? Would Jerry Jones or Dan Snyder be your ideal template, but at the college level?

Go ahead and let me hear what you think. :bricks:

Gone in a couple of years is my guess. Likely on his own volition... He might be gone before CPJ! Giving CBG a renewal was such a pointless move. CBG has been worse than Hewitt from every standpoint except beating UGA. Shows me that Bobinski doesn't want to rock the boat or make any moves. Probably waiting for a job at the NCAA?

I would go further to say that D-Rad made his mark in part by the way he interacted with supporters of all type, not just the big time boosters. He engaged GT fans through social media, direct emails, and by glad handing out and about during sporting events. He sat and talked with me at Gwinnett Arena during a basketball game the season we played some games up there.

I'm sure that in part helped him with the move to Clemson.

Our storied basketball program is currently 1 game above .500, and our football team seems pleased to scrape by yearly. I'd like to see the AD take affirmative action and show that he wants to make a change, so that we can see growth and success. Let the great GT fans know of his plan would be ideal and comforting to me.

Gotta stop you right here.

There really isn't that much history to our basketball team. For the most part we've been a middle-bottom tier ACC team. There have been isolated blips of success in the 80's and early 90s, but certainly nothing that "storied" IMO.

Lets keep it real.

Shows me that you understand little regarding CBG's extension; it bolsters recruiting with very little buyout penalty.

I get what you're saying. Maybe our program isn't that "storied." But from 2000-2010 we saw consistant success. Tech became known for producing star NBA players such as Chris Bosh, Thaddeus Young, Will Bynum, Derrick Favors, Jarret Jack, Iman Shumpert, Anthony Morrow. Along with great college players such as Lewis Clinch, BJ Elder, and Luke Schensher, just naming a few.

You are referring to the Hewitt years as consistent success? We should have kept him then.

I am part of large (34 seat) suite for GT Football and have been for the last 6 years. Bobinski didn't stop by our suite one time during the football season to introduce himself or say hello. That's all I need to know.

With Paul Hewitt, recruiting was a success. The only problem was winning with the star talent that we had. With BG we havent shown ability to win or recruit...

:lol:Bad coaches should not be renewed, period. You know what affects recruiting? Not winning games.

No one will look back and say, renewing CBG was a great move!!
