You familiar with the phrase 'When you dig yourself into a hole, put away the shovel'?

no i dont know that one. is that some pedo phrase you learn in NAMBLA?

i have heard the phrase "if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging instead of looking for a bigger shovel"

Arizona picks two UDFA RBs. From UNLV and Northern Arizona.

So Dwyer will compete with those two, and also with veterans Andre Ellington (Clemson), Stephan Taylor (Stanford) and Ryan Williams (VT).

Mathews is a great pick for the Falcons considering their OL sucks. He is probably more ready to play than any of them. Unless he gets hurt he will be starting day one.

On the Sams pick, everyone of the so called experts says he's marginal at best. Something like 9 of his 11 sacks came against D2 or lower level teams. He will get owned once he gets out there. On the gay issue, I don't think it will pose a problem. There are more gays in the league than you might think. If he choses to flaunt then that's the only reason there might be a problem.

Do people ever come out to their teammates in the NFL? How much of known secret is it that a teammate might be gay?

I'm also curious what players and coaches might think about the gay v. playing ability v. team results press coverage they may get and if they view that as a distraction to their goals.

The guys I played with never came out but they also produced on the field. Once kickoff starts nobody cares as we are there to win as a team. As far as coaches I never saw them treat those players differently than the others. Production was all it was about. The two guys in Buffalo never made a roster simply because they weren't good enough.

By being the first openly gay player, he may be pushed into being a spokesperson by the national media. Do you think he was flaunting his sexuality when he was kissing his boyfriend on national tv or do you think that was something we needed to see?

I also await RM's thoughts on this but wanted to add that you raise an interesting point. There's a bit of an agenda being pushed by the media and I do think he'll end up being forced into a spokesperson role much like they always run to Collins (NBA) about every gay-related issue.

RM's experiences show that this is a non-issue but it's gonna be forced down our collective throats because the media has decided to champion the cause.

I can't wait til he's cut (due to football/depth chart reasons) and see how it gets handled. The Rams have a deep, talented dline so if he doesn't perform but still makes the team there will be a Bill L**** level mutiny in St. Louis.

BTW, I certainly didn't need to see the kiss and was glad I missed the subsequent cake wrasslin' display.

It's interesting that both gays and christians feel persecuted by the NFL.

Maybe I'm insensitive, but I was bothered more by Michael Sam's loud sobbing while talking on the phone to Jeff Fisher than I was by any public display of affection.

It looks like Rams already got their return on investment. Sams jerseys #2 in rookie sales behind Manziel's.
